Miles College is a historically black college founded in 1905. Located in Fairfield, Alabama, it is a private liberal arts institution of the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church (CME Church). Miles College is also a member of the United Negro College Fund.

Miles College offers degrees in education, business, biology, and in various sciences. According to a recent non-profit organization, Miles College ranks 4th in the nation for graduating black college students.[citation needed]

Recently, Miles College purchased an old Birmingham hospital which doubled the size of the campus to 76 acres.

The college band is known as the Miles Purple Marching Machine (PMM). [1] They are directed by Donald Crawford, recognized in the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.[citation needed]
