[edit] Hi
I think you've made exactly the same error as I did on Poker jargon - there's a page at List of slang names for poker hands, which I didn't notice until I'd added at least half a dozen hands, live and learn, eh. --Alf melmac 11:44, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Recent edits to Jump the shark
Your recent contribution(s) to Wikipedia are very much appreciated. However, you did not provide references or sources for your information. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a drive to improve the quality of Wikipedia by encouraging editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. If sources are left unreferenced, it may count as original research, which is not allowed. Can you provide in the article specific references to any books, articles, websites or other reliable sources that will allow people to verify the content in the article? You can use a citation method listed at inline citations that best suits each article. Thanks! Addhoc 15:36, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Please cite sources
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Jimmy Page, but we regretfully cannot accept original research. Please find and add a reliable citation to your recent edit so we can verify your work. Uncited information may be removed at any time. Thanks for your efforts, and happy editing! [edit] Image tagging for Image:JanetEllisScreenshot.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:JanetEllisScreenshot.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Janie Liszewski
A tag has been placed on Janie Liszewski, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Nwbpwnr 04:23, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Hey, cheers for noticing my edits. You're right about the name thing...but I really do think it causes confusion...I'll change the names back to Van Halen later anyway. [edit] ID4
Please review film articles that are Featured Articles at WP:FA#Media. It's best to aspire to be like them. Show me a FA-class film article or even a GA-class film article that has unencyclopedic rumors as part of the content, and I might reconsider. Otherwise, rumors and made-up titling is simply not notable. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information; the content should be relevant to the article's topic and not what Indy fanboys do in their free time. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 13:21, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- You'll have to excuse me for being firm. I've worked on a lot of film articles, and it's just clear to me that such information does not belong in these articles. (Nice usage of "dross", by the way. Had to look it up, though I kind of guessed the meaning.) I don't want to discourage you from editing on Wikipedia, but there are policies to consider such as notability. Anyone can have a say on any topic -- if someone says the current administration sucks on their blog, is that really encyclopedic? Rumors are generally not acceptable if they have no basis, such as someone being said to be up for a role where no one ever acknowledged it. The extent would be actors expressing an interest in a role; that's notable because it comes from the lion's mouth, and not speculated by people with their dream cast. I think there is far more useful content that can be provided about a film instead. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 13:40, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:DavidEddings.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:DavidEddings.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok ☠ 20:51, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

- I read your rationale on the talk page, but the image in question is not acceptable for fair use in the Indiana Jones article, so it is now orphaned. I have deleted the image. Kafziel Talk 16:06, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
When you hack up peoples articles for no good reason, it's editing - when someone else does it, it's vandalism. Go figure.Mikejstevenson 16:23, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Do you mean my removal of the image from the Indiana Jones article? That wasn't "for no good reason". That's the law. Take a look at the Fair Use tag; a fair use image has to be used to illustrate the object in question. Bart Simpson is not Indiana Jones, so use of a Simpsons screenshot in the Indiana Jones article is a violation of Fair Use. If we had a screenshot in every article of every person, place, or thing ever referenced on the Simpsons, there would be one in every article on Wikipedia. That's not how Fair Use works. Kafziel Talk 16:41, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
-
- The Object In Question is not Jones himself; rather it's the fact/concept that Indiana Jones is often parodied and referenced in popular culture. That picture (showing Bart as Jones, and Homer as the ball) is (was) used to illustrate that, since it is arguably the most well remembered and popular Indiana Jones parody. Anyway, I don't know why I'm taking the time debating this - you're not interested. It really amazes me how anyone ever manages to get any pictures on Wikipedia. I've taken pictures myself and had them deleted by your comprades citing copyright violations; I've given up bothering trying to upload pictures. Mikejstevenson 17:52, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- No, I am interested. I'm not some robot - I've uploaded photos that have been deleted, too, so I know what you're talking about. It's always been a complicated process, and it's become a whole lot more complicated in the last few months. It's a pain in the ass, I know.
- It's generally felt that screenshots can only be used in the articles about the show or movie, and sometimes in the articles about the actors portrayed in the screenshot (although that's also debatable). Trivia sections in articles get out of control pretty easily, and to be on the safe side we don't put photos in the pop culture references/trivia sections.
- I do understand your frustration, and you're not the only one who has given up trying to upload photos. I don't upload anything anymore unless I took it myself. Kafziel Talk 18:05, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Right now, I have nothing to say. It is I who am replying to you. You should start off to give me something to comment on. ColdFusion650 13:25, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
Don't go saying I'm not interested in discussing the article. See my above comments. If you don't want to discuss it ("I'm certainly not going to enter into a discussion with you"), that's not my fault. Whether I'm "flushing the article down the toilet" or not is your opinion. I don't think I am. I haven't made any major edits to the Indiana Jones article since you messaged me, so I don't know why you said "continue flushing". It makes it sound like I keep editing it when I'm not. Make whatever changes you feel necessary, and if I have a problem, I will try to discuss them, although from your comment, I don't know how far I will get with that. One last thing: from the tone of your comment, I would suggest a wikibreak to alleviate your assumption of bad faith. ColdFusion650 01:48, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:InfernalJones.JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:InfernalJones.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:FairbridgeLogo.JPG
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:FairbridgeLogo.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Indiana Jones
For questions about in-universe vs. out-of-universe perspective, please read Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction). As far as your percentages go, I realize that they are estimates, but they are greatly off. You said 70% of the information in the Feature Film section does not come from the films. In reality, 353 out of 492 words pertain to the films. That makes less than 29% from outside sources. Your percent error was almost 59%. You said 30-40% of the information in the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles section does not come from the series. In reality, 767 out of 931 words pertain to the series. That makes less than 18% from outside sources. Your percent error was 55%. I hope that this clears things up. If you have any questions about Wikipedia's policy on in-universe writing or percentages, I'll be glad to answer them. ColdFusion650 16:18, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:ArnoldToht.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:ArnoldToht.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. βcommand 22:13, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
