Zasławski was a Princely Houses of Poland of Ruthenian descent, close related to the clan of Ostrogski, thus of Rurikid extraction and held title of Knyaz. History of family begins when Wasyl "Krasny" Ostrogski`s son, Yurii Zasławski, inherited Iziaslav (Zaslav) in Volhynia. Soon princely line from Zaslav suceeded whole fortune of Ostrogski house, Iwan Zasławski becomed prince of Ostrog and since now on family used double surname, Zasławski-Ostrogski.
