Attention needed

CCed to a small number of users

The Wilno Uprising nasty conflict needs more attention, if you please. Also, check talks and edit histories of Lviv and Battle of the Lower Dnieper. This may take time though. And finally, if you really have time for reading, read the talk page of the Battle of Volodarka.

I would like to request some attention at Russian, Ukrainian, Polish and Baltic portals, re Vilnius issue but for now, I am requesting the attention of several editors who could quickly inderstand what the problem is. --Irpen 02:45, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

P.S. May I ask why the anon IP proxy blocks (Bonny) are not indefinite sometimes. Open proxy can be used to create an indefinite number of username and giving such block a chance to expire, creates a potential waist of time for too many of us.

Help

Hey Mikka,

Would you be able to help me out by semi-protecting several pages? I'm essentially dealing with the Turkish version of Bonaparte here: a user who got permabanned who is now adding ultranationalist bullshit to pages. Here they are:

Your help would really be appreciated, thank you very much. —Khoikhoi 18:29, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, don't forget to revert her on the Zaza People page. —Khoikhoi 18:33, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Why are you deleting the official cited sources? 85.100.89.40 18:40, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Because article already has cited sources. Please use article's talk page to resolve disagreements. `'mikka (t) 18:45, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
She's banned anyways, so it doesn't really matter. She just reverted Ardahan & Adana BTW. —Khoikhoi 18:52, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Now she's back as 85.101.94.205 (talk · contribs) - would you be able to block her and keep an eye on User talk:TuzsuzDeliBekir? Thanks again. —Khoikhoi 19:49, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Internal Troops

Please consider adding this to your watch list. As a reknowned "KGB activist and communist and Russian spy" :) you might be interested in its recent edit. --Irpen 01:07, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Sure thing, after I am done with my no less important anti-Semitic and anti-Romanian activities. `'mikka (t) 21:18, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
Sure, no rush. You can even complete the irredentist activities that are also part of your agenda. I thank Bonny for learning this word which I had to look up in the dictionary. Once you are done, please check the recent discussion at talk:Ukrainization if you are interested. --Irpen 02:30, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

217.11.42.142 = Bonaparte?

Look at 217.11.42.142's recent post to WP:AN [1]. This is typical of Bonaparte's behavior, isn't it? In addition, this IP appears to have been used by others before, and traces to Switzerland, so isn't it an open proxy that needs blocking? 19:52, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Bonaparte is still around and still using socks (he emails me occasioanlly when I notice one!). Sad, because I find him likeable. But 217.11.42.142 is not listed on XBL. Just zis Guy you know? 22:12, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

I posted at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Kven users RfC. I'm not that familiar with the process, if things are written in the right places, or if the lead section should be written the way I wrote it. Perhaps you should take a look at it. / Fred-Chess 20:17, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

sorry

Hey, this is lotr jedi13, you blocked my account earlier, and I wanted to apologize for the vandalism. I'm not trying to make excuses, but my account was hacked, and everyone at my school "borrowed" it. Once again, I am so sorry for what they did. I changed my password, so, I hope you won't have the same problem again. Just to warn you, your "bug" page is where veryone at school talks to each other, so you might try obtaining a sysop or something. Thanks.

Turkish Wars

User:Petri Krohn spawned a prolonged revert war by changing redirects on Russo-Turkish Wars and Russo-Turkish wars, which traditionally linked to Russo-Turkish War, a dab page. He, however, redirected all these pages to History of Russo-Turkish wars and proceeded to accuse me of anti-Turkish POV, without quoting any diffs. Your opinion is welcome on Talk:History of Russo-Turkish wars. --Ghirla -трёп- 06:50, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

WP:PP

I automatically added unlisted tagged protected pages to WP:PP, and many of them were yours. Don't forget to list them at WP:PP with an explanation. I have javascript that makes it quick for each (un)/protect an admin does.

The other javascript I used to list the ones admins didn't list still has limitations (such as pages that are not tagged will not be added), so I would prefer that people list them themselves, though I will run it daily just to keep things up to date.Voice-of-AllT|@|ESP 01:20, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Reference for the USSR?

Mikka, do you think this article in a respected UA-weakly is worthy to add to refs to some articles here? It is bilingual (UA version here) and can be used as a source but I am not sure to which ones is to add it. The article is in a respected publication and of the very respected author. It lacks the deapth of the monographs but has an advantage of being online --Irpen 21:07, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Category:Kurdish inhabited region

Hi, I'd like to inquire why is this category useful? --Cat out 09:02, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Kurds don't have own state; they are split between several countries, so this category is natural replacement of what could be category:Subdivisions of Kurdistan, like there is Category:Subdivisions of Russia. As for your argument, "we do not do this for other ethnicities", every rule has exceptions. Special cases do exist in the real world. For example, there are Jews, who organize information about themselves in wikipedia in a unique way. `'mikka (t) 15:20, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
The native americans, african americans, aborigines (australia), dozens of other ethnicities throughout the planet lack a state. If kurds dont have a state, they dont have a state and categorising them as if they have a state would be bad practice.
Kurdistan has no defined borders. Any border we talk about is circumstantial and someone else can easily come up with more expanded borders or something much smaller. Furthermore for the case of kurds we have no way of knowing how many there are nor do we know on which cities they are a majority.
Your Category:Subdivisions of Russia example is inconclusive. While I am not not certain exactly how Subdivisions of Russia works, from what I understand the government does not object to this kind of grouping. I suspect it has to do with population ratios and climate, not ethnicity occupation percentages. It is nothing like the case of Kurdistan.
You should understand categories are binary in nature, Kurds either live at a place or they don't. Categorising to this end can be highly contraversial. Which cities would fall under a Kurdistan? Who determines which cities qualify? You? Me? Some other random user? If there is a necesity to 'organize information' a wikiproject, or an article, or something in a userspace can handle that. Same thing can also be achieved with a paragraph on Kurdistan. Something along the line as 'foo source claims these provinces to be in kurdistan'. We do not tag New York to be a jewish city under such a category.
--Cat out 22:37, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
"categorising them as if they have a state would be bad practice." - I am afraid, colleague, you are excessively politicizing the issue. Wikipedia is not an advisor at UN and categirzing in this way does not give any legitimacy for ideas of "Greated Kurdistan" or whatever. If certain settlements are traditionally classified as having significant kurdish population, it is a fact and can be categorized. And I see no problem in categorizing places where Australian aborigenes still live unassimilated. I would find this useful as well. Thank you for the idea. `'mikka (t) 04:06, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
No, of course we are not the UN, but that is not the point. The political aspect surrounding Kurdistan should not be ignored and instead should be taken into account when categorising. Some people living in SE Turkey whelmingly and even violenly oppose a Kurdistan while others whelmingly and even violently support a Kurdistan.
I am not being excessive. I just want to keep the politics from both sides (pro-Kurdistan or anti-kurdistan) off of the articles. I'd rather not have a dozen pov forks. The Kurdistan issue can be discussed in articles like Kurdistan, Kurds in Turkey, Kurdish nationalism etc.
As for "categorising them as if they have a state would be bad practice." comment, I was merely trying to point out my POV. I do not try to hide my POV as I prefer objective insight from other parties, in this case you.
Currently we are categorising Rome, and Stockholm under the Category:Kurdish inhabited region. Needless to say Stockholm and Hakkari don't have much in common aside from being human settlements, they arent even on the same continent. There are no 'traditional' cities classified. We have no reliable source to categorise, not even a census. Your word is as good as mine when we tag articles with this category. That was the hole point I was trying to emphacise.
I also fail to see the usefullness of categorising based on ethnicity. I am not trying to pull your leg but I honestly do not see the benefit it brings.
Oh and btw please respond on my talk page too so I know when you post a response. :)

Stalin

Hello can you take a look at the stalin discussion page and add your 2 cents (Deng 22:02, 13 May 2006 (UTC))

Loch Ness Monster

Dear Mikka ! I cannot understand, why you deleted the Loch-Ness-Monster-Painting from several Wikipedia-Sites.(Spamer Artist !!!)The painting was published the first time in October 2003 In USA by the very famous Psychiatrist Dr.Norman Sartorius, NY, in his book “Art” (ISBN 3-7945-2323-7), with other Paintings from Picasso (“Guernica”), Edvard Munch ( “The Scream”), Goya, Van Gogh, etc. (You heard already from theese guys ?)If you want, I can SEND you this book for PROOF ! The painting will find its final home this year in a very representativ Museum in Scotland. Question : Did you delete the painting, because the painter is not dead yet ? Would you do this with a singer too ? Only listening to singers they already dead ? (You wouldn’t hear ANY music on a contemporary chanel !) It would be a little boaring . . . Anyway, this painting and many more will survive ALL OF US, - (if you delete it or not) . . . Best regards, Claudia D’Aponte (art-history)

Wikipedia is not an art gallery. It is an encyclopedia. This painting, added in to half a dozen articles, contain no information and I am inclined to believe it was added for vanity purposes, since many paintings are added into many language versions of wikipedia. I personally don't find even any artictic value (alt). The artist (Heikenwaelder Hugo) is virtually unknown. Wikipedia is not a vehicle to someone's glory. `'mikka (t) 20:32, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Also, please consited adding text to articles, rather than links. Many links to the same website is considered spam. Wikipedia is supposed to be encyclopedia, not link directory. `'mikka (t) 20:40, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Loch Ness Monster (2)

All literature is fiction, all art in the world is fiction, and theLoch-Ness-Monster is FICTION too, because : It does NOT EXIST ! The photos of the Loch-Ness Monster are FAKES ! But what you don’t know : People LOVE fiction ! Would you really want to live in a world without any movie, without any novel, without any song, without any painting ??? Poor world ! And if you would be EXACT you have to delete EVERYTHING about the Loch-Ness-monster > the whole SITE ! (Because it is a fairy tale !) And you have to delete all wikipedia-Sites about any religion : Because it is FICTION !!! (I wouldn’t mind.). And, sorry, - do you really BELIEVE a encyclopedia without pics has any attraction in this century ??? Wikipedia has (nearly) no pics, it is boaring, and sometimes I believe, the guys here live in the wrong century ! Don’t you know, what the 21.century needs ??? But I know, reflections as mine don’t enter the brains of . . . anyone here . . . Well, - if you don’t want LINKS, why do you have “External Links” here ??? Sorry, can you explain me that ??? It is PARADOX ! If you don’t want it, > CUT IT ! No problem ! But if it is there, it is an invitation, to do correct things ! A personal question to you : You deleted all the links to the Number 1 Site of Cryptozoology > Cryptozoology.com, - okay, nobody can understand, because it is Nr.1 from 2 and a half MILLION sites . . . and, by the way, cryptozoology is nothing than FUN and entertainment, something what millions of people LOVE ! You CUT it ! But real DANGEROUS things, like LINKS to SCIENTOLOGY Sites, where the lifes of people become DESTROYED, these links to there homepages YOU DON’T DELETE ! As well as links to right-winged-extremists like Eric Weber (german site), - LINK to his HOMEPAGE, a right-extremist-platform !!! No, NO ONE I wrote to, did DELETE all that trash and all these links ! All the Admin’s here are to WEAK to take position, - no character AT ALL ! But a fun- and loved Site as Cryptozooly.com, yes, there you show your POWER and you DELETE, and delete, and delete , . . and . . and . . and . . (This is the true face of WIKIPEDIA !). I’m leaving Wikipedia now FOR EVER, and let it in the hands of frustrated guys like you, (you will NEVER understand ANYTHING !), - with no understanding of art and literature and entertainement and anything, what peoples mind makes happy and gives them an inner richness,- because you will NEVER realize, that inspiration and imagination is also somethin real in this world, - although it is fiction. Poor Wikipedia to be in the hands of small and frustrated cops they beat the little and run away from the big manipulaters like scientology and other big players they abuse wikipedia for their promotion. Congratulation, you lost today a constructive member (me), but I know, you are happy about that . . .

I am afraid you don't exactly understand the purpose of wikipedia. It is not for fun and entertainment. It is for information, including information about various notable crooks. `'mikka (t) 17:38, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Yes ! And including LINKS to notable CROOKS ! Exactly ! Good luck ! And ADIOS ! I don't want to be a member of a society, that is supporting crooks, political and religigious extremists. And what you say about information : It is really important to have a complete list of female pornostars ! This is the "information" the world really NEEDS ! And a link to the Number 1 Cryptozoology-Site is fun and entertainement ant it is your job to DELETE it IMMEDIATLY ! I wonder that you donn't think ONE SECOND about that, what you are doing. You have 2 measures, - and you know it, - you can't be so stupid, NOT to see that there are 2 measures in your own acting ! Bey, bey - FOR EVER ! Claudia . . .

Requested for deletion

You want to delete the following pictures : Image:Aeskulap.jpg The uploader is not the author of the mosaic, neither he received permission of the author or other legal copyrightholder --Mikkalai 17:24, 15 May 2006 (UTC) Image:Edelstein-Ente.jpg

The Uploader HAS the permission of the author and HAS also the permission of author of the mosaic. That is fact. Fact is also, that you will delete it ANYWAY, because you have other reasons for your deleting. Plesase delete, if you feel happy after doing it. Do you feel good now ? These Artworks are bought and shown by the German Edelstein-Museum. One of the most famous museums in that category. But you know much more about that. You are the EXPERT.We know. Do, what you think you have to do. Do you really think, this will bring luck into your life ??? There is no joy in your life at all. Everybody can see your paranoia. You have such a POWER ! WOUW ! We are IMPRESSED ! I’m sure, you would have had a great career by Stalin, as a cop in the Gulag. Isn’t it sad, that he is dead ? I’m happy, that I never met guys like you in real life. Because they don’t exist in Austria. Thank God. Heikenwaelder 01:25, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

  • I would rather see your valuable contribution added to the Commons:Deletion_requests#Image:Aeskulap.jpg, then here. Any evidence showing that the uploader has the permissions from Claudia von Aponte, the author of the mosaic, would be helpful as well. Spam Artist

Dear Alex ! Mr.Mikka titteled me „Spam artist“ ! I painted more than 400 Oilpaintings, 300 watercolours and more than 1000 drawings. They are shown in many collections around the worl like Estée-Lauder-Collection in New York. The Loch-Ness-Monster-painting is published in USA by the very famous Psychiatrist Dr.Norman Sartorius, NY, in his book “Art” (ISBN 3-7945-2323-7), with other Paintings from Picasso (“Guernica”), Edvard Munch ( “The Scream”), Goya, Van Gogh, etc. The Loch Ness Monster Painting is sold for about 100.000.- €. (You can see the invoice, - no problem !) And if you find ONE PAINTING or WATERCOLOUR for less than 10.000.-€, - please BUY IT, - I will give you MORE ! Coming by aeroplane, taking the picture and bringing the money. (Good prices for an Spam-Artist !) Steve Alten’s famous novel LOCH NESS ist just translated in several languages and the painting will be on the cover. A Nessie – Movie is made this year in Hollywood and they ask me to show the painting in a scene of the movie. If YOU would be the author of the painting, would you NOT BE ANGRY about to be titeled as a “Spam Artist” by somebody, who knows ABSOLUT NOTHING about art and how it works ??? I’m absolut NOT an artist with any Egomania, for that I’m to rich, to happy, to busy with my new plans, - but when you did something special, a movie, a painting, a novel, everybody would be interested to show it to the people they are involved in this theme. And when I show this painting in several languages under “Loch Ness Monster” (because there is no better painting or picture around the world about the Loch-Ness Monster”), so call you that SPAM ! And when there is a link to the Number 1 Cryptoology-Site from 2,5 mmillion sites(Crxptoology.com), where the painting is shown (naturally), than you call this SPAM ! Who is here WRONG ??? Me or Mr.Mikkalai ? Anyway. In a few month, you will hear much more about that all, because we are opening an internatiional art-portal with EU-patronage, involved 5 worldwide known museums from Europe and one of the oldest and biggest art-publishers is delivering the content and more. Good luck to the wiki-art-sites ! Best regards from the SPAM-Artist –HH.

P.S.:The problem I have (had, - because I'm not interested in it anymore) with wikipedia is completely different : You delete with increduble energy constructive things and links like the Loch-Ness-Monster-pic, or links to cryptozoology, (where absolut no danger is in it or ideology, or fanatisme and so on), but where is your “energy” by destructive crooks like scientology or right-or left-political extremists like Eric Weber and other ???? THERE you should waste your energy ! And about this question I didn’t get ANY answer ! From NOBODY ! And that are the 2 measures you are acting in. And I know, you will give me no answer, but keep deleting pieces of international art. For me it is okay, because I’m already gone from wikipedia, doing other things with more fun and results. But you really don’t know what you LOST. You will see it by end of the year. For sure ! P.P.S.: And what do you have against glory ??? The problem in our century is, that there are no many figures anymore with positive glory, where the youth can think about it ! But if you have big figures in sport like Ronaldinho, or in art or in good music, the youth would keep away from drugs or bad ideologys or destructive videogames ! That is where I THINK ABOUT ! Because figures in the spotlight have responsibility for the future of the world.

P.P.P.S.: And if Mr.Mikkalai would have ANY SERIOUSITY and fairness (and ability to learn something about art), he would say : “Sorry, Hugo. Let’s talk about it !” But it will never happen . . .

Hugo, wikipedia is encyclopedia, not art gallery. Articles are about real things, not about paintings of an unknown artist (Hugo Heikenwälder or Heikenwaelder, who are you? Where can I read about you?). Good luck with your 10,000 Eur and be happy with it. In wikipedia we don't get any money, nor any glory. What is more, the majority of editors (like me) are anonymous. If someone deletes my contribution, I don't object, unless I believe that some correct facts relevant to the topic are removed. You inserted you fantasy drawing into several articles. Please explain what kind of encyclopedic information it provides.
You colored an old Flammarion woodcut (and probably sold for XXX Euro) and inserted it into multiple articles with your name in the caption. It is called vanity and self-promotion, especially when you add your painting to the top of the articles, in the best visible place. Notice that I did not delete your work from the "Flammarion woodcut" artcile; it is because in this place you painting is relevant to the topic and I have nothing personal against you, whatever you may think.
Your Loch-Ness monster picture: please explain which reported sighting it corresponds. I.e., whose tale is shown on your picture? the article "Loch Ness monster" does not have the matching description, hence your drawing is irrelevant, even if someone paid 100,000 Euro for it.
Even if you take an illuctrated encyclopedia for small children, the pictures in it illustrate the topic, not just pretty paintings. You are absolutely welcome to illustrate wikipedia by painting illustrative pictures for articles without illustrations (and sell the original paintings for millions). But your paining of heart, sorry, was useless: the article already has several good illustrations. `'mikka (t) 20:41, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
  • The whole „Loch-Ness-Monster“-site is vanity, - because the monster does not exist.at all. And the published foto is a prooven fake. But when you think, this painting is irrelevant, than delete it.
  • About the”heart” : This week wrote 2 doctors asking for using the pic, because it does NOT HAVE any DESCRIPTION. The problems of many medicin students are : they cannot use pictures because of copyright, (I give it for free, because I don’t need any money out of that), second > Many of medicin – illustrations are full of TEXT, and they want pics WITHOUT text in the illustration. Yesterday wrote a young doctor, who works on hormons, he wants to do his OWN TEXT on it, because he needs the pic not for the function of the heart, he needs it for the function of hormons, - you can’t know that, but I know that, because I’m 30 years in the business and I know the special needs, wishes and problems of people looking for illustrations. But if you think, it is “useless”, delete it ! And there are graphic elements on that illustration, that other illustration don’t have, and they are atractiv for people with advanced eyes. Anyway, I don’t want to give you a lecture in, what people need or not, or what is useless or not. Truth is : I’m only interested in “useless things” like art, literature, movies and so on. There is much more fun in it than in “washing machines”, - I agree, they are really usefull . . .
  • But why don’t you give me an answer about the main question : There is no danger in art or illustration, and you want to delete it, - why don’t you have this energy by crooks as . . . you know already . . . ??? Do you have fear to talk about that ? I can’t believe that. Anyway, - forget it . . . and delete all the “useless” pics, I don’t mind, or cut the name out of them., or go on in your thinking, that the coloration of the flammarion woodcut is easy to do . . . why can’t you find a good coloration of that since more than 100 years ??? Perhaps it is not so easy as you think . . Is this possible ? I learned a lot in the last few days, not about art, but about people I never met my whole life before . . . And I’m gonna do now, what my friends say to me since 1 week : Leave WIKI immediately, they will never understand, where you are talking about . . . And I think, they are right . . . So, it was not nice but interesting to meet you, good luck for your further life . . . And how says my dear friend Alan from New York : “No good deed goes unpunished !”- for years I could’t believe that, - now I know : He is right . . . Adios, Hugo . . . Heikenwaelder 00:03, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
  • Loch Ness: Yes, the photo is a proven fake. The article says so. The photo is part of the history around the Nessie, hence it is in the article. You didn't answer my questions about your picture: what historical/informational value it has?
  • Flammarion: What's your problem here exactly? Your coloration is not deleted from wikipedia, please look into "Flammarion woodcut" article.
  • Heart: Are you a certified anatomist? Is your picture of heard published in an anatomical book or poster? In other words, who guarantees that the picture is information, and not misinformation? There is a general rule, wikipedia:verifiability. My 11 year old daughter can look into an anatomy book and draw something like this. But I will not put her picture into encyclopedia.
  • Scientology. We have articles about Nazism, Anti-Semitism, Ku Klux Klan, Rape, Serial killer, Communism, and many other ugly things. This does not mean that wikipedia supports views and tastes of racists, sexual predators, religious bigots, etc.
  • Good day to you and your friend Alan from New York. If you demand gratitude for your good deeds, many people will think that your deeds probably did not come from pure heart. Christ was crucified, remember? But he didn't whine about ungrateful Judeans. `'mikka (t) 00:30, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Are you and Admin.?

I want fair involvment within the Azari articles. I also want user:Grandmaster explained that he can not threaten me; User:Grandmaster is trying to intimdate me and threaten me on freedom of expression alone. Look at what he left on my talk page. This was just because I added an alternative user box for the Wiki Azeri groupp to which I am a member of saying this user beleives in the reunion of Iran and the Republic of Azarbaijan. He has absolutly no right to threaten me on it and additionallyy hee has no right to delete it from the project page. After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:56, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Frost line (disambiguation) and Frost line

Hi Mikkalai - I was thinking it would make sense to move Frost line to Freezing depth, which is the more common term for the phenomenon. Doing so would however break the link to the page Frost line (disambiguation) that you created. Do you have any thoughts on the matter? - Thanks, MPF 09:22, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks; I've added more at Talk:Frost line - MPF 20:43, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Dear Mikka !

You did forget to delete the „Loch-Ness-Monster-Painting” from the unknown artist at the Wiki –sites >>>

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptozoology http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptozoologist http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loch_Ness_Monster_and_popular_culture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mythical_being

Please fullfill your persecution COMPLETLY, because I know, you will feel MUCH BETTER than ! Have you EVER visited a great museum ??? Don’t you see the quality of that painting ? No, the hate makes you blind . . . Poor Mikka ! I fell only PITY for you and your acting. Please write also to the number one in the world about Cryptozoology >> cryptozoology.com to delete this great painting from the cover, (because of the unknown artist, and from the http://www.loch-ness.eu (Gallery) and from many more sites, and from all the books, where the painting is published). If you would give me your E-mail-adress, I could send you all the published pages, but you won’t, because you don’t want the truth, you only want the revenge for the truth I said to you. It will bring NO LUCK AT ALL to your poisoned life. The painting is made in the style of the “old dutch masters”, - but you don’t want to see it. Anyway, go on in destroying that, what people love and live for . . . I never met a person like you, you are really UNIQUE ! Go on and you will see where you will end up . . .By, Hugo + Claudia . . .

For Mikka.
For Mikka.

The unknown “Oscar-awarded actor” and Claudia, and me . . .

<unsigned, by user:80.123.121.26, most probably user:Heikenwaelder>

Dear unknown artist, I did not forget to delete the „Loch-Ness-Monster-Painting” (as well as Flammarion coloration and the Duck) from everywhere. I left them where they are directly relevant. You can send me an e-mail using the wikipedia e-mail feature: the "e-mail this user" link at wikipedia user pages. For your convenience, you may click here. Whatever you say, you didn't convince me that "what people love and live for" in your case is your name, which you added to as many wikipedia articles as possible. Believe me or not, but it is called "vanity". I undertstand well that actors and artists simply have to make their names known, but wikipedia is not a vehicle for this. Wikipedia is also not an art gallery, but a source of information.

You write: 'the painting is made in the style of the “old dutch masters”', but it is irrelevant to the encyclopedia article in question: you still did not answer my repeated questions: how the picture is relevant to the Nessie article? Which recorded event it reflects?

Please also notice that I restored your Heart after receiving a reasonable confirmation that this drawing is not an anatomical mistake.

"The unknown Oscar-awarded actor" is known but who is this guy sitting on a bench? `'mikka (t) 18:21, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

DAC

Mikkalai, please do explain why you reverted my edit of the page DAC, and removed my addition of the link to De Amersfoortse Cooperatie, a page that I am planning to add after my exams. No hard feelings, just confusion here.

Since you are planning to write an article, nothing terrible happened. Before writing, please read Wikipedia:Notability (music), to get the idea how to write an article about a band which will not be quickly deleted. Unfortunately there is so many "garage" bands of dubious notability, with article voted for deletion, like, a dozen a day: take a look into a list, e.g., in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2006 May 23 to see how many things is deleted every day. My decision was based on the following:
  • No article ("DAC" is not a list of all possible abbreviations; they belong to wiktionary. This is a disambiguation page, i.e., a page for navigation between articles about things that may have the same name.)
  • Nothing in wikipedia links to De Amersfoortse Cooperatie
  • The contributor is unknown, may be a drummer's girlfriend
  • Too few google hits, hence a certain effort required to establish its notability. (the links are mostly non English, so I cannot do it quickly)
  • the first English-language page I clicked says "instrumental rock metal", not "hip hop", hence suspicions about correctness. Again, I don't want to waste too much time on the research. (I am "wasting" my time right now writing this response, out of respect to you as a person who expresses enough interest in the topic beyond a single line.)
I will not object if you restore your edit in DAC, if you include there a link to a webpage that confirms the notability of the group according to some of the criteria from WP:MUSIC. `'mikka (t) 16:42, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

P.S. I have just detected the page List of Dutch hip hop musicians, which you may want to edit, if you are interested in writing articles about Dutch hip-hop. (You are not just a drummer's girlfriend, are you? Please sign your posts in talk pages.) `'mikka (t) 16:48, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Mikka :) thank you for looking. The hoop is one heck of an обруч.

what say you? perhaps you don't like that in the article about the myth, there's too much talk about the novel happening? I'm not inclined to diehard on this one... just thrown a thought - and if you don't like it, let's move it out, it's ok. - Vera - Introvert ~? 07:32, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Art Dominique and Kven

I've noticed that you have been involved in the discussions on Kven with Art Dominique, and I was hoping I could refer your attention to it again. As you're probably aware, the Kvens in Norway are a distinct minority with a history that is important for Norwegians (and others) to be aware about. But Art Dominique insists on cluttering this article with a rather esoteric - and from what I can tell, controversial - discourse on the historical record for a distinct, but probably related group of Kvens. I have split off the historical discussion into a separate article so that the article on contemporary Kvens can evolve as it should, unencumbered by the debate on the historical record. I have taken great care that no content is lost through these edits.

If Art Dominique had simply disagreed with me, it would have been one thing; but he seems to think that I am proposing a "radical" new theory, and responding with a long, self-righteous tirade that is absolutely irrelevant to the editing changes I've proposed.

I don't know what the threshold is for these kinds of things, but I think that Art Dominique's behavior is incredibly disruptive. --Leifern 11:37, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Sources

Why did you revert Vlad Dracula? There are two sources for the anecdotes that are included in the reference section. One of the sources included were written by the Russians. The sources are included, but there are no footnotes attached to the anecdote. But that's a different thing, isn't it? I mean, we don't have to add footnotes, do we? --Candide, or Optimism 21:00, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Please help

Could you please read over Moldovans and make it more neutral? As it reads right now it sounds like some Romania Mare guy wrote it. —Khoikhoi 21:41, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Mikka is not neutral. --Candide, or Optimism 21:42, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
So you think an article written only by Romanians are going to be able to make it NPOV? The article needs to have more POVs in it other than the Romanian one. —Khoikhoi 22:28, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
No, I don't think so. I just don't think that choosing a more neutral person over less person will solve the problem. Mikka is a nice grandpa. He will go with the flow, which he finds more mature. --Candide, or Optimism 22:30, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
You're right, all articles should only have the Romanian POV in them. Show me the Wikipedia policy that says that. —Khoikhoi 22:32, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks,

OK, I changed up the Nesse Godin page (by the way, she's my grandmother so that was my main motivation for creating the page). I pretty much deleted all her awards since I don't have the desire to go through the whole thing....

Your AfD for list of rare diseases

In your nomination for deleting List of rare diseases, you ask what the heck a "rare disease" is. I've argued in the AfD that rare disease is a real technical term, not something made up by a wikipedian. Would you be willing to look at the issue again? Thanks, Andjam 13:57, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

War and peace

(Also posted on talk:War and Peace, feel free to respond there).

Hi Mikkalai. I think your edit to War and Peace is something of an overtranslation. Would you really say that "secular society" was the primary meaning of "міръ"? The meaning is "world," which may be used as a way of referring to secular society. This connection carries across into English. See for example [4] 5a, 5b, also many Bible verses [5] such as John 17.9. The adjective "worldly" illustrates the association of "world" with the secular part of humanity. This sense of the word "world" has come to English and Russian from the Greek "cosmos," which was used with the same range of meanings in the New Testament. Therefore, the English word "world" includes the meaning you're trying to get across for "мир." The current text is misleading, since it makes it appear that "міръ" exclusively meant "secular society." The primary meaning "world" is totally lost. --Reuben 00:58, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

List of sexual slurs/old

I'm not sure what the exact time limit is on a renomination of a AfD, but I think three months is sufficient. List of sexual slurs/old was last nominated by you in late April, so I suggest late July would be a good time to try again. Its chief proponent, user:Primetime, has been revealed to be a serial plagiarist and perma-banned by Wales. Siberian language

Mikka, an article has been created on Siberian language which, it is asserted, is largely nonsense on the basis that the language was constructed recently (and the article asserts a long history). I don't speak Russian or Ukrainian (two of the languages cited as carrying reliable sources for this content). Oh bugger, not again. Mikka was being really helpful over at WP:DRV. Just zis Guy you know? 22:48, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
While I disagree that I violated 3RR here (my last edit was just a removal a repetition of the text which is already present elsewhere and was not contested by Nixer (because it is also "anti-Semitic propaganda" in his terminology and deserves to be removed)). What Nixer was violently objecting in mentioning the Jewish ancestry of Lenin, and I left his version while starting the discussion at Talk:Vladimir Lenin (I should have been done this after the first revert). So I do agree it was stupid of me to engage in revert war in any amount. `'mikka (t) 22:49, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
I don't want to get into an argument with you, Mikka, but I do have to defend my decisions. You performed this removal of a paragraph five times among other warring within a three-hour period. --Sam Blanning(talk) 23:08, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Well, shit happens. I don't think someone really cares about this paragraph. It is a 100% literal cut and paste repetition of text in this same article, compare Bolshevik#"Jewish Bolshevism". Whatever. `'mikka (t) 23:43, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Sam, Mikka is right - it was a duplicate para, and it was still there in the version he left, just once instead of twice. As to past hiustory, I couldn't say. Just zis Guy you know? 08:42, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Translation question

I have a question, as there seems to be disagreement among two editors what this means (And I as an outsider in hat dispute can not judge it as I do not speak it). Does this sentence: "а известный арменист Г. Тер-Мкртчян (Миабан) откровенно пишет: «Мы знаем, что Корюн был епископом иверов или иверских армян, а по моему мнению, даже, быть может, ивером (грузином) или по крайней мере грузинским армянином... во всяком случае, трудно иначе понимать сказанное Корюном о себе»[16]. Такое толкование поддерживают и Алишан[17], О. Торосян[18], В Фынтыглян[19], Сарухан[20], S. Weber[21] и др." says that the person in question was also the bishop of the Georgians without indicating his ethnicity, or does it say that his ethnicity is Georgian? Your help as a native russian speaker is appreciated. -- Kim van der Linde at venus 17:56, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

the piece in question says: "... and in my opinion he <Koryun> could even have been an Iberian" (Georgian) or at least a Georgian Armenian < i.e., Armenian from Georgia >; in any case it is difficult to find another interpretation of what Koryun spoke about himself". It e. it is an opinion of Ter-Mkrtchian. And this is not even a definite opinion about ethnicity. `'mikka (t) 19:14, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, and the sources that he gives do back that up, or is that unrelated? -- Kim van der Linde at venus 19:18, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Per WP:V can you provide some sources for that addition? It would also need some context about what areas/types of people use the term. And sorry about reverting first, it probably would have been better to ask you first, but additions do need sources. - Taxman Talk 18:17, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Slavic people

Just to tell you that I made that entry, because Ghirandajo insisted on restoring some fringe theory in line with Pan-slavism that alledgedly there is a common Slavic culture and identity shared by "all Slavs". This was so incorrect and POV, that it had to be corrected. I simply wanted it removed, but he kept restoring it. I also explained this at discussion page. --Molobo 22:19, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Norm Coleman

Hi, I am sending this message to serious contributors who may be interested in articles related to U.S. politics. I believe I am receiving an unreasonable response-- and at times insulting and rude-- from the editors of Norm Coleman article, who refuse to remove a section that may offer some interesting trivia for Wikipeidia users, but is irrelevant to people interested in reading an encyclopedia article on a member of U.S. Senate. If you have time, please take a look at the article. Regards. 172 | Talk 03:13, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Category:Russian books

Being puzzled how we should classify Domostroy, I stumbled upon this category. Do you think it is helpful? --Ghirla -трёп- 14:51, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Melanie Philips

I really do not understand why people are repeatedly adding the "Islamaphobe of the year" thing. I have not seen any evidence that suggests that such a "reward" is particularly notable. I really am not a supporter of phillips or anything, from the very little I know about her she seems like a rather silly person and I only became involved with her article as a matter peripheral to another issue. If you think that the Islamophobe thing is necessary to counteract what you see as too much "positive" information on the article then maybe we can reach an agreement by removing some of it or somthing, but I really do not think that the award is appropriate.- Moshe Constantine Hassan Al-Silverburg | Talk 05:18, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Category:Kursbuchstrecke

Yes, that set of templates is a partial port from de:, it is similar to the Autobahn infobox template. I'll have to port the rest at some point, though I have no idea of a proper supercategory to put this stuff into. Is there such a thing as a Railway templates category?. --doco () 17:53, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

RE:Skyfolder

Sure. Thanks for pointing that out. Cheers TigerShark 23:06, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
