Biography of:
Mike Subritzky New Zealand historian, writer, soldier and war poet.
Born: Michael Raphael Gabriel Subritzky-Count Kusza, 1950 in Katikati, New Zealand, from an old Polish noble family, ennobled by HM King Jan I Olbracht of Poland/Lithuania in 1495. Granted the everlasting right to bear the arms "[Kusza]" (Crossbow). Count of Annam [Imperial Nguyen Dynasty]. [Hau Tuoc Nguyen Phuc Minh Kien].
Education: Saint Joseph's Convent [Waihi], [Waihi College], [Wananga o Aotearoa], Ruggero II University Italy/Florida USA PhD (hc) History.
Married: Marilyn Gaye Monica (nee: Williams), six children.

- 1996 With Our Boys in Vietnam - Poems by [Betty May Browne], Foreward by Colonel Don Kenning MBE, RNZA (rtd), original Battery Commander of 161 Battery in Vietnam. Features the published poems that were written by Betty May against newspaper articles that appeared in The Dominion and Wellington Evening Post newspapers. She then mailed the poem and the newsclipping were then mailed to the Troops in Vietnam. Betty May was adopted by the New Zealand Vietnam Veterans and was always invited to parades upon the return of the New Zealand troops from Active Service. She died in 2008. - 1997 Honoured by the NZ ex-Vietnam Services Association by having a copy of his book "The Vietnam Scrapbook - The Second ANZAC Adventure" laid at the [Vietnam War Memorial Wall] in Washington D.C. during the 1997 pilgrimage.
- 1997 Awarded the American Vietnam Veterans (honorary) Distinguished Service Medal, citation "for his contribution to all veterans of the Asian conflict and immortalising the Vietnam Veterans of New Zealand for all time."
- 1998 Named Book of the Quarter by Texas State University April - June 1998.
- 2007 Knight Commander, [Order of the Eagle of Georgia and the Seamless Tunic of Our Lord Jesus Christ]. A personal gift from HRH Prince Jorge Bagration de Moukhrani y di Costafiorita of Georgia (country) Georgia.
Subritzky has written some of the most important New Zealand war poetry of the 20th and 21st century, and is one of the best known New Zealand poets on the international scene. He writes his war poetry in the gritty, 'in your face' style of the barrack room and the forward trench, and is regarded as 'The Kiwi Kipling.'- "Pangolin Times."
