Are those "actual" beams? Or merely movie effects? KyuuA4 07:18, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Kyon, the cameraman, grunts and stumbles in one scene when the Mikuru Beam is aimed at the camera, and his companions react with surprise. That's what that bit of semi-speculation is based on. -Toptomcat 00:54, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- The novel expands more on the movie's production and all the strange seemingly real effects occured such as the Mikuru Beam the first time she used it, Itsuki's forcefield in the ending, and Shamisan talking. From the translation and review in the 2nd Novel "The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya" where they produce the movie, it said that Haruhi was starting to confuse reality and the movie and as such her subconscious powers started distorting reality enabling Shamisan to talk and giving Mikuru some juice behind her Mikuru Beam thus making Kyon disoriented when filming. Yuki reacted instinctively and didn't necessarily attack Mikuru but tried to remove the contact lens Mikuru was wearing (notice in the episode her left eye is blue) which seemed to be the source of that power. And then Shamisan talking, well...that just can't be right. The forcefield Itsuki used in the last scene and the fact he was being pushed backwards seemed too far out of their production capabilities to make as well. I don't see any discussion of this in particular on the project page, and in any case, the lead is decidedly not "meant to be repetitive", it's meant to be a summary and introduction, laying out the basic information and facts of the article. If there is sufficient detail to warrant expansion and, yes, repetition, in a later section of the article, that's perfectly acceptable and, indeed, desirable. But in this case, there is nothing but two simple, basic facts that cannot be expanded upon. It should be placed in the intro, and there only, because there is no more detail that could possibly be given; so it's simply one repetitive pointless section in a redundant, pointless section. If you want to use some actual content, and discuss the different actresses, etc., that's fine. But as long it remains the virtually empty and utterly unneccessary section it is now, it should be removed, as has been done twice already.--KR | T 00:36, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- It was discussed at WP:HARUHI to have a structure to the character articles, and a section on the voice actors was discussed as being one of the things we need. They are there not only because they belong in the body of the article, but they are also able to guide future editors how to format the page in the future, so it's more like planning for the future.--十八 04:52, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- If there's more information, then it can be added and the section should stay as I said. But as far as I know, there isn't, so it's pointless. I accept that it was previously discussed, but I'm bringing up new points, and either way, we don't need to guide future editors to format the article if the format is bad. My point is, if there's more information and detail that can be put in the section, fantastic. But if not, then it should be removed.--KR | T 00:59, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

"In order to differentiate between the older and younger versions, whenever the older self is present in the same time span, Kyon refers to her older self as Asahina-san (big) and to the younger Asahina as Asahina-san (small)."
Should the latter read "Asahina-chan?"
Perhaps I'm misreading, but I don't see the differentiation between young and old in the above text.
- The differenciation is the inclusion of the "(big)" and "(small)" which are actually written in the text of the novels. Kyon does not ever refer to Mikuru as "-chan", and only ever uses the suffix "-san", that's the point.--十八 04:00, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- There have been a number of good faith edits about that small bit as shown in the history of the article. Perhaps its best to include a short explanation as to why it's left as -san and not -chan. I noticed it as being rather odd but never looked for an explanation. I apologize for not addressing it further. Fox816 05:05, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Image:Mikuru Asahina.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. User:SeizureDog has suggested on using the light novel images of the character instead of anime screenshots mainly because the article is too focused on the anime. Finding good translations for the light novels is hard to come by so information is limited. Despite being based off the light novels, the anime is more popular as well as being widely available to overseas audiences. Keeping the main picture of Mikuru to the anime is better-suited because of such. We can, though, include her light-novel counterpart within the article somewhere for comparison. A trimmed image would be best since just taking the front cover of a novel with her in it would take too much space and is unnecessary in size. Fox816 (talk) 21:30, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
