Talk:Mike Yaconelli
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I cannot claim to be either a friend or relative of Mike Yaconelli. However, I did have the privilege of meeting him, and sharing lunch, a number of years ago. I can accept the criticim of this article that it is not sufficiently biographical. That can and should be easily rectified by those with the details to hand. As for the propriety of his inclusion - that must go without saying. Mike was a published author and globally respected in his field. That field may have been outside the orbit of many Wikipedia readers, but since when has that been a criterion for inclusion. The very strength of this organ is that it can have the breadth and capacity to record details of people like Mike Yaconelli, and perhaps broaden the perspective of some others - JAH 195.58.69.85 08:29, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Copied from AfD to help sourcing
See coverage in Christianity Today at the time of his death, a few months later, their online news magazine interviewed a couple years earlier. (Full versions of first two only available to subscribers.) See coverage of death in Crosswalk.com's news department, by their senior news & culture editor here (1st of 3 web pages). Audio interview by World Vision report available at [1]. Obituary in a secular newspaper here. Amazon book rankings are current sales volume; he died 4 years ago, so the current rankings are not meaningful indicators of the ranks of the books at the time they were released, which is when best sellerdom is measured. Plenty more sources out there; I didn't bother going past the first page of google results since notability is obvious once the research is done. GRBerry 17:13, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
