Talk:Mike Gravel presidential campaign, 2008

[edit] Second Life Headquarters
Sen. Gravel was the first presidential candidate to have an official HQ set up in the virtual world of Second Life. This was a historic first, and should probably be worked in, if possible. Sorry for not logging in, for some reason Safari dies everytime I do so, so I'm just using my IP address time being. 24.8.212.176 23:58, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

This could use a screenshot of his candidate webpage, but how to do?DavidYork71 00:47, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Political Views of Mike Gravel
I've split the lengthy policy/views section into a separate article, Political views of Mike Gravel. This follows the form of Political views of Hillary Rodham Clinton, Political views of Barack Obama, Political views of Rudy Giuliani, etc. Wasted Time R 12:18, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Use American English
Judging by the non-American English littering this article about an American politician, it seems that his campaign had garnered a lot of support from people who don't matter in the election. That's a sure sign of failure. 24.113.177.5 00:12, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
- All the Mike Gravel articles were originally written by User:DavidYork71, who was an Aussie I think ... and who got banned from Wikipedia for actions on other articles. Wasted Time R 01:58, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Please revert edits by User:TheNewHampshireVolunteer
This editor is now a banned user, and he made some non-neutral edits to this article. Since there have been meaningful edits since then, "undo" won't work. YechielMan 06:36, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- It looks like there was only one significant set of edits after his edits so I've incorporated that. Oddly, the section that was added was added to a section he had created so I had to find a way to add it in else where. Metros 13:03, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] unofical sites
Numerous blogs have endorsed Gravel and should be mentioned the reason i chose OhShutUp.Net is because the Campaigns Wikia mentions the blog.--Geekattack10 00:44, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Also gravel put it on his website: http://gravel2008.us/?q=node/1384--
Unifocial sites should be put back up.
[edit] Re: Campaign Advisors
I know that it isn't common to include a section on campaign staff/advisors, but I think that in the light of recent developments (ie: Carl Rove, Harriet Miers, Michael Brown etc.) there is a growing concern over a candidate's ability to choose staffmembers. Some of these advisors are potential cabinet members should the candidate be elected. I am proposing the inclusion of prominent staff/advisors (and a short bio) to all candidates' campaign entries in order to help voters better understand each candidates' ability to judge character. I believe that attention is inordinately focussed on individual candidates, when in fact, the major influence on any new administration will be in the advisors surrounding the new president. Your input would be greatly appreciated. ----Rawkcuf.
[edit] Outdated link needs fixing
The link for citation #25, regarding CNN rescinding their decision to omit Gravel from the debate at St. Anselm's, appears to either be outdated or merely a redirection to the front page of his website. StaticElectric 15:27, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:2008 Democratic Debates 3 Jun NH.png
Image:2008 Democratic Debates 3 Jun NH.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Time line of primaries, caucuses and debates
One thing that strikes me when reading this page is that the timelines are backwards, starting from the most recent, through to the oldest, making it difficult to read to gain an overall idea of the whole campaign. If no one has any objections, I'd like to re order the sections in chronological order to bring it into line with most of the other presidential campaign pages. DrDoogle (talk) 22:16, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, please do. Wasted Time R (talk) 22:23, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

- Agreed -- this is not a blog, after all. Coemgenus 18:00, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Any reason why the dates aren't in the American style? Considering the article's subject, I think it plainly calls for the American style, and if wikilinks in headers weren't against the MOS, I'd have already inserted them. Tromboneguy0186 (talk) 10:15, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] This is written like an advertisement
This is not allowed on Wikipedia. Look at the description of Gravel's positions- they are unambiguously supportive of Gravel's positions. They are written as though Gravel wrote them. This needs to be corrected. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.22.84.93 (talk) 23:52, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- You are correct. The Gravel articles were all written by Gravel enthusiasts. I have done lots of work on the main article to remedy this, but not much on this article. So feel free to fix the problems here. Wasted Time R (talk) 00:26, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

- You're right. Then again, without this schlock, there's not much else to say. He isn't getting votes, isn't campaigning and is so anonymous that the national polls don't even mention him. Niteshift36 (talk) 01:20, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] What about his ads?
Is no one going to acknowledge Gravel's unusual advertisements, which have become not only an Internet meme but also featured on shows like The Daily Show? 68.146.41.232 (talk) 22:56, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- I was just going to suggest the same thing. "Rock" was apparently a runaway viral hit on YouTube. Normally Wikipedia is all over runaway viral hits. Fishal (talk) 03:51, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- I've added descriptions of "Rock" and "Fire". Wasted Time R (talk) 22:15, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Shouldn't this article reflect that...
...Gravel's continuing candidacy is basically a technicality, rather than being a serious contender? It's technically impossible for him to win now right? This should probably be in the first paragraph. LukeSurl t c 15:57, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- I've added paragraph to the lead indicating the non-competitiveness of his campaign. Wasted Time R (talk) 16:08, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
