Mikko Juva

Mikko Einar Juva (22 November 1918 in Karleby-1 January 2004 in Turku, was a Finnish historian, theologist and archbishop. He was professor in Nordic history 1957-62 at Turku University and professor in Finlands och Scandinavias history and church history at Helsinki University 1962-78. He was also a member of the Finnish parliament 1962-66 and the chairman of the liberal party 1965-68.

As young Mikko Juva took active part in the Christian student movement and was student minister 1948-50. He was archbishop of Finland 1978-82. The most important assignment is his presidency in the Lutheran World Federation 1970-77. He also published writings in historical adn church historical subjects.

He was the son of Einar W. Juva.
