[edit] Professional career

The Patriots play a base 3-4 defense; their starting lineup consists of three first-round draft picks--Ty Warren, Vince Wilfork, and Richard Seymour. Thus, Wright generally acts as a backup, but, like many Patriots players, Wright has demonstrated his versatility, as he can sub at any position on the line.

In 2006 Wright started three games at nose tackle in place of an injured Vince Wilfork. Wright also had a noticeable impact on the Patriots' special teams unit, recording a blocked field goal against the Miami Dolphins and a partially-blocked punt against the Houston Texans.

On March 14, 2008 the Patriots re-signed restricted free agent Wright to a one-year tender of $1.417 million.
