Michael "Mike" Seal (born 1970 in London, England) is the Assistant Conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.[1] He is the first person to occupy this role, being appointed in May 2005.
He began playing the violin at the age of nine, and later studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire. He learnt to be a conductor at the Conservatoire, and joined the CBSO in September 1992.
He conducted his first concert with the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra at Walsall in 1996, quickly becoming a conductor with this orchestra on a regular basis.
He has also conducted the Midland Concert Orchestra, Birmingham Schools Symphony Orchestra and Birmingham University Symphony Orchestra.
