Mike Panetta

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mike Panetta (born July 14, 1971[1]) is the District of Columbia shadow representative elected on November 7, 2006.

A "shadow representative" is different from a delegate to Congress, an office currently held by Eleanor Holmes Norton. While the office of delegate is created by the U.S. House of Representatives, the shadow representative position was created by the D.C. government and is not recognized by Congress.

Panetta has run several high-profile campaigns for DC representation including starting an Olympic team for the District and leading efforts to rebrand RFK Stadium as "Taxation Without Representation Field".[2] Panetta has pledged to make the DC voting rights issue a national one that is embraced by progressive activists across the country.
