Mike Okoth Origi

Mike Okoth Origi (born November 16, 1967 ) is a football player from Kenya. During most of his career, he has played as a professional in Belgium. He played for Kenyan clubs Shabana and Kenya Breweries (now Tusker FC). In 1992 he moved to Omanese club Boshar FC and three months later to K.V. Oostende in Belgium. His most successful season was in 1998/1999, when his club Racing Genk won the Jupiler League (Belgian 1st level league). He was a regular player for the Kenya national football team and played in the Africa Nations Cup thrice (1990, 1992 and 2004). In 2006, at the age of 38, he still active, although in a lowly league.
Mike Origi was known in Belgium for being a real gentleman football player, never complaining, never protesting and never injuring an oponent. Amongst the fans he was known for being very friendly and 'normal'.
His brother Austin Oduor Origi was also a football player and played for Gor Mahia. Austin's son Arnold Origi is a goalkeeper and currently plays in the Kenya Premier League.
