Michael Francis Mayock (born August 14, 1958 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a former American football safety in the NFL. Mayock is currently a college football analyst and a draft analyst for the NFL Network.

[edit] Broadcasting

From 2005-present served with NFL Network, Mayock has served as a college football analyst for ABC Sports. Prior to ABC, he has called college football action for Fox Sports Net during the 2000 season, after spending four years (1996-99) as a member of CBS Sports' broadcast team -- during which time he served as both a game analyst (1996, '97 and '99) and lead sideline reporter (1998). He also worked as a reporter for CBS's coverage of the NCAA basketball tournament in 1997, '98 and '99.

He joined CBS from ESPN, where he worked as an analyst and sideline reporter for the cable network's coverage of the Canadian Football League and college football from 1993-95. Additionally, Mayock has experience covering college football for Prime Network, NCAA Productions, Prime Sports Radio and the Big East Conference.

He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 10th round (#265) of the 1981 NFL Draft. His playing career was with the New York Giants from 1982 to 1984.

Mayock played football and baseball at Boston College from 1976 through 1981 and was football team captain as a senior in 1980. He earned third team All-America honors and first team all-East honors. He was named the ECAC defensive player-of-the-year as a senior and won the Thomas F. Scanlan Award. Mayock posted 12 career interceptions, including two against John Elway and Stanford in a 30-13 BC win over the Cardinal in 1980. In baseball, he earned all-New England, all-East and team MVP honors as a senior. Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame on October 5, 2001.
