[edit] Biography

Malin was born Michael Robert Carri on July 16, 1970 and raised in Concord, New Hampshire. He left New Hampshire to pursue his education, and enrolled in Bentley College, in Waltham, Massachusetts. At Bentley, Malin majored in finance while also exercising his passion for theater arts. He was active in the theatre program at Bentley College, which led him to his ultimate move to Los Angeles in pursuit of acting as a full time career.

[edit] Warner Bros. trespass incident

The Smoking Gun revealed that Malin had been arrested in 1997 under his real name Michael Carri trespassing at the lot of Warner Brothers Pictures and using false identification. He and friends Gary DeRosa, Peter Brandt and Kimberly Weiant had secretly filmed and taken pictures of Batman and Robin which was then being filmed. It was alleged that the pictures were to be sold to the news-magazine program Inside Edition, for US$35,000.[1]

On January 23, 1997, Carri pleaded no contest to carrying counterfeit government-issued ID, trespass and property damage, and malicious mischief. He was sentenced to three years' probation, fined $100, and ordered to do 400 hours of community service. A month later, Warner Bros. filed a civil suit against the trio. The court ordered the defendants never to use the information stolen, and never to trespass on WB property again.[2]

It was reported in the Concord Monitor that Carri had changed his name to Malin when he moved to Los Angeles in 1993, although this is disputed. The Smoking Gun could not locate any such name change petition filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, and speculated that the name was changed after the Warner Bros incident in an effort to hide his past.[1]

[edit] Big Brother 2

In season two Malin finished 8th out of 12 houseguests, and was part of the "Chilltown alliance" ("Chilltown" being their nickname for the cold bedroom they shared in the BB house) with Will Kirby and Shannon Dragoo. Malin was the first male ever to be "evicted" from the Big Brother house. Malin was evicted in week 4, but returned to vote for the winner, Will Kirby in the season finale.

[edit] Big Brother 7: All-Stars

In the summer of 2006 it was announced that Malin was one of the top 20 houseguests eligible to compete in Big Brother 7: All Stars. Malin's and fellow Chilltown alliance member, Will Kirby duped most of the house guests during the course of the season. Despite having the most brazen alliance in Big Brother history, Kirby and Malin lured the other house guests into evicting their own close friends and alliance members through deception.

Malin was nominated for eviction twice, both times by Janelle Pierzina. In Week 4 he was nominated against Erika Landin, but removed himself after winning the Power of Veto. (Diane Henry was nominated in Malin's place, and evicted by a 7-1 vote.) In Week 8, he was nominated to replace Landin, who had removed herself after winning the Power of Veto, but won the vote over George Boswell, 2-0. Malin therefore never had a vote cast against him during the competition. He was Head of Household in Weeks 7, 9, and 10. In week 6, Malin won the new “Coup d'Etat” power that allowed him to overthrow an HOH’s pick for nominations and change the nominees at an eviction ceremony for the next three evictions. Malin managed to make it to the final two with Landin and went on to win the game after giving a convincing jury speech. He won by a margin of 6-1 and went home with $500,000 and the title of Big Brother All-Star Champion.
