Michael "Mike" Gorman (born December 14, 1943, in Dorchester, Massachusetts) is a television play-by-play commentator for the Boston Celtics basketball team, currently broadcasting on the Comcast Sportsnet New England cable channel. Gorman is a graduate of Boston Latin School and Boston State College (now University of Massachusetts-Boston).

He and color commentator Tom Heinsohn form one of the longest-tenured broadcast tandems in professional sports.

A five-time Emmy award winner, Gorman was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2004.^[1]

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Gorman began his broadcasting career at WNBH in New Bedford, Massachusetts and WPRO radio in Providence, Rhode Island. Gorman served as sports director at WPRI-TV in Providence; as the voice of the University of Rhode Island on WPRO; and as television play-by-play man for the Providence College Friars.

During the 1980s, Gorman was the primary announcer for ESPN's "Big Monday" Big East Game of the Week. He has called the NCAA basketball tournament on CBS; tennis at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics with Bud Collins on NBC; and the NBA Playoffs on TBS.

Mike is married to Teri Schindler, Executive Vice-President of brand strategy firm Patrick Davis Partners. Their daughter, Kristen, works in theater.

Originally, the broadcast team of "Mike and Tommy" (Gorman and Heinsohn) share the area "high above courtside" alongside legendary radio voice Johnny Most at the old Boston Garden. Since moving to the TD Banknorth Garden (then the FleetCenter) in 1995, their broadcast position is now near the Celtics bench, currently beside the radio booth of current radio broadcast team of Sean Grande and Cedric Maxwell.
