Keyboard player Michael Fonfara (born August 11, 1946 in Stevensville, Ontario, Canada) is a seasoned musician who is perhaps best known for his work with Lou Reed in the Seventies and The Downchild Blues Band in the Nineties. He started playing in Toronto band, Lee Jackson & The Checkmates in 1963, which evolved into Jon and Lee & The Checkmates soon afterwards. When this band broke up in September 1967, he worked briefly with David Clayton-Thomas and then toured and recorded with The Electric Flag before signing up with Elektra band, Rhinoceros in December 1967.
