The Beginning
Mike DiBiase began his career in early 2006 training in Amarillo, TX with wrestling veteran Chris Youngblood while gaining experience wrestling in shows for local independent wrestling promotion Professional Wrestling Federation. Mike DiBiase went on to become the first-ever PWF West Texas Wrestling Legends Heritage Champion and also the first-ever winner of The 2006 Jay Youngblood Memorial Tag Team Tournament Cup alongside his tag team partner and fellow third generation wrestler and nephew of Jay Youngblood, “Radical” Ricky Romero III. DiBiase and Romero became the first tag team in professional wrestling that consisted of two third generation superstars and became known as “Team 3G” (Team 3rd Generation Wrestlers).
Joining World League Wrestling
Later in the Summer of 2006, Mike joined his younger brother Ted DiBiase Jr. in training with former NWA World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Hall of Famer Harley Race and began competing in his World League Wrestling promotion. The DiBiase Brothers began tagging in WLW gaining experience under the watchful eye of Harley Race. Mike DiBiase continued his stay in WLW and became one half of The WLW Tag Team Champions with fellow WLW Superstar “Wild” Wade Chism. On January 13, 2007 Mike DiBiase returned to Amarillo, TX for PWF’s Wrestlution event, where he defeated PWF Superstar Mosh Pit Mike. Both Mike and Teddy DiBiase Jr. signed contracts with Pro Wrestling NOAH in late January. It was only two weeks later Mike DiBiase suffered a complete ACL tear requiring surgery.
Injury
In February of 2007, Mike DiBiase suffered a torn ACL during a training session with Harley Race. Mike DiBiase had immediate surgery and was out of action for over five months. Due to his injury, he and “Wild” Wade Chism were stripped of The WLW Tag Team Title’s.
Return to PWF
During his injury Mike relocated back to Amarillo, TX and began scouting matches and offering advice and input to young and up and coming talent and made several in-ring appearances at the weekly events. His first appearance after his injury came on March 3, 2007 when he told reigning PWF West Texas Wrestling Legends Heritage Champion, Thunder that he’d cleared from injury in a matter of months and vowed that he would be going after the title. Mike’s next appearance was on April 28, 2007 Mike DiBiase Jr. awarded PWF Tag Team Pain Inc. (Mosh Pit Mike & WidowMaker) the 2007 Jay Youngblood Memorial Tag Team Tournament Cup. Mike had his first match back in five months on July 7, 2007 when “Team 3G” reunited and became PWF Tag Team Champions after defeating Pain Inc. and The Texas Heart Throbs (Brice Payne & Shawn Sanders) in a three-way tag team match.
