Mike DeBord (born February 7, 1956 in Muncie, Indiana) is an American football coach. Currently, he is serving as an offensive assistant for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League. Previously, he has served as the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach for the Michigan Wolverines football team.
DeBord was the head football coach at Central Michigan University from 2000-2003. He posted a 12-34 record for a winning percentage of .260. DeBord resigned following the 2003 season.
Previously, he was an assistant coach at Michigan from 1992-1999, the last three seasons as offensive coordinator, and then rejoined the Wolverines in 2004 as special teams coordinator and recruiting coordinator. He served in that capacity for two seasons before succeeding Terry Malone as offensive coordinator and tight ends coach.
He was interviewed recently for the open University of Michigan head coaching position, but the job was given to Rich Rodriguez. Although nothing had been officially announced, Rodriguez made it clear in his first press conference as Michigan head coach that he would retain some of his staff, including offensive coordinator Calvin Magee, leaving DeBord unemployed as of January 2nd, 2008, after the Capital One Bowl.[1]
On March 5, 2008, the Seattle Seahawks announced that DeBord had been hired as an offensive assistant [1].
DeBord graduated from Manchester College in 1978.
