Michael John Burns (born July 14, 1978 in Westminster, California) is a right-handed Major League Baseball relief pitcher for the Chicago Cubs organization. A 2000 draft pick by the Houston Astros, Burns made his major league debut in 2005. He spent part of 2006 with the Cincinnati Reds until he was traded on August 28. Burns was called up from the Pawtucket Red Sox to the major league team on August 29, 2006. After signing with the Pittsburgh Pirates after the 2007 season, Burns was released during spring training and signed with the Chicago Cubs.
