Mike Briggs

Mike E. Briggs (born January 23, 1959 in Fresno, California) is an American politician who served in the California State Assembly from 1998 until 2002. After serving on the Fresno city council from 1994 to 1998, he represented the 29th District, which included parts of Fresno and Tulare counties. He succeeded Chuck Poochigian, who made a successful run for the State Senate. Briggs stepped down after just two terms in 2002 to run for the United States Congress. Although he had the endorsement of Fresno mayor Alan Autry, he lost the primary to Devin Nunes.
