Mike Bouchard

Michael "Mike" Bouchard (born April 12, 1956 in Flint, Michigan) is an American politician, currently the Sheriff of Oakland County, Michigan. He was the candidate for the Republican ticket for the 2006 Michigan U.S. Senate election against Democratic incumbent Senator Debbie Stabenow. He won the August 8 primary over the other Republican candidate, Keith Butler, by a vote of 346,681 to 225,817. (See: Michigan U.S. Senate election, 2006) He is also considered to be a possible gubernatorial candidate in the 2010 election.
Bouchard is a 1979 graduate of Michigan State University, where he majored in criminal justice and police administration. He is a former State Senate majority leader and is now the Oakland County sheriff.
In previous campaigns, Bouchard's message has been one of anti-crime, support for small government principles, and community building. Bouchard also made immigration reform and border security a part of his U.S. Senate campaign.
In late July 2007, Bouchard endorsed former Mass. Governor Mitt Romney in the Republican Presidential Primaries for the 2008 election.Governor Romney went on to strongly win the primary vote in Oakland County. [1]

He was raised in Oakland County and attended high school at Brother Rice High School which is currently one of the top high schools in Michigan. He and Pam, his wife of 19 years, live in Birmingham, Michigan with their daughter (who appears in two campaign commercials) and two sons.
