Right winger Mike Blunden rebounded from a shoulder injury that kept him out of the second-half of the 2006-07 season. In his third professional and the first full campaign of his career, the Toronto native recorded 37 points in 73 games. He was recalled to the Chicago Blackhawks on December 26 for his second run in the NHL and played in one game before returning to the IceHogs.

Scored his first career playoff goal on 4/25/08 at Houston in Rockford's 5-2 win. Played in his first 100th career AHL game and had a goal with a +3 in Rockford's 5-3 win over Iowa on 4/13/08. Played in his 100th career professional game on 3/9/08 against Iowa. Notced a goal and two assists with a +4 in Rockford's 4-2 win at Iowa on 1/19/08. Had a goal and an assist on 12/29/07 in Rockford's 4-2 win at Peoria. Re-called by the Blackhawks on 12/26/07. Played in one game and was re-assigned to Rockford on 12/28/07. Recorded two assists in Rockford's 4-2 win over Milwaukee on 12/22/07. Assisted on three goals in Rockford's 5-3 win at Toronto on 11/18/07. Had a goal and two assists in Rockford's 8-3 win over San Antonio on 11/11/07. Scored the game-winning goal in Rockford's 2-1 win over Manitoba on 11/3/07, Rockford's first AHL win. Collected a goal and an assist in Rockford's 5-1 win at Grand Rapids on 10/20/07.

Made his professional debut with Norfolk on 3/25/06 against the Portland Pirates. Recorded his first professional point in his pro debut, chipping in an assist in the Admirals 5-3 loss. Tallied his first pro goal at Wilkes-Barre Scranton on 4/7/06, in a 5-4 loss to the Penguins. Was named to the Erie Otters (OHL) Team MVP for the 05-06 season after leading the team with 46g-38a-84pts. His 46 goals set an Erie franchise record for most goals in a single season. Named to the OHL All-Star game in 2005-06. Mamber of Team Canada's gold medal winning team at the 2006 World Junior Championships. Was one of only five junior skaters invited to join Team Canada's 2006 World Championships Training Camp. Alternate Team Captain on Erie's 2003-04 squad.
