Mihir Kanti Rakshit (born July 1, 1936 in Chittagong, Bangladesh) is an economist and Director of Monetary Research Project at Investment, Information and Crediting Agency(ICRA), Kolkata, India.

[edit] Biosketch
Dr Rakshit received his B.A. in economics from Presidency College, Kolkata, where he was to return later and spend the most productive part of his career. He completed his M.A. from the University of Calcutta and was appointed a reader in the Economics department at the University of Burdwan. He gave up the position in order to pursue his PhD at the London School of Economics, initially under the eminent Canadian economist Dr Richard Lipsey and then under Dr S Andrew Ozga.
He was formerly the Head of the Economics Research Unit at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata and has held appointments at the Presidency College, the Delhi School of Economics, and the Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands. His field of research includes transnational macroeconomics and crises and recovery in developing economies.
