Mihai Viteazu (older name Sânmihaiu, Hungarian: Szentmihály) is a commune in Cluj County, Romania.

Mihai Viteazu commune was founded by the merging of four villages, Sânmihaiu de Jos, Sânmihaiu de Sus, Corneşti and Cheia. The village is a multiethnic community with a sizeable Hungarian minority. All of the four villages were first time mentioned in documents in the 14th century, after the settlement of Székelys in the Aranyosszék area. However, archaeologists unearthed traces of human dwellings from earlier periods, too.

The commune has more than 47 square kilometers and 5,800 inhabitants. The most interesting sight of the area is the Turzii Gorges (Cheile Turzii).

Ethnic composition of the commune is: 4095 Romanians, 1574 Hungarians, 104 Gypsies and a Serb, an Italian, a German and a Dutch.

From the religious point of view, there are 3839 Orthodoxs, 228 Roman Catholics, 575 Reformats, 792 Unitarians, 39 Baptists, 41 Greek Catholics, 54 Pentecostals and 139 Jehovah's Witnesses.
