Mihăiţă Păunel Pleşan (born February 19, 1983 in Moldova Nouă) is a Romanian football player who currently plays for Steaua Bucureşti. He is usually used as a central midfielder although he primarily is an attack minded defensive midfielder. He is a Romanian international.

Plesan started his career at Universitatea Craiova, but he really came into the spotlight after an amazing goal against the German national football team in a 2004 friendly. As Craiova relegated at the end of the season, the team's star moved to Dinamo Bucureşti. His stay there was, however, a short one, not only due to his mediocre performances, but also due to the fact that Gheorghe Hagi wanted him at Poli. Consequently, after just a few months at Dinamo, Plesan moved to Timişoara, declaring he had never really adapted to the lifestyle in Bucharest, nor to his role on the pitch at the league runners up. The transfer fee of $800,000 is among the highest fees ever paid within the Romanian championship. Plesan signed a 5 year contract with Steaua Bucureşti on the 6th of August 2007, Steaua paying for him around EUR 1,300,000.
