[edit] RE: Deep Web
khai, sorry, I haven't logged into wikipedia in ages, i only just got your message... here's what you wrote me:
Hi, I was reading about the deep web and I read the paragraph you wrote about the fact that t has been noted that this can be (partially) overcome by having links to query results, thus increasing Google-style PageRank results for a theoretical member of the deep web.
Could you give me more info about this? I searched the web to find reference about query and deep web (and variations) and did not find anything.
Thanks, MiguelTremblay 22:17, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
take for an example the system on Amateur Writerz (http://awriterz.freelinuxhost.com). The categories are database queries that filter content by the category field and then dump to a table. But there are actual text links on the main page to the categories. Granted they take the form http://awriterz.freelinuxhost.com/Fantasy et al, but the pages found at those locations simply redirect to a database query, Google does have some of these pages indexed. I have seen a similar thing done on other pages where the query is simply put in GET variables submitted to a page and that is linked directly and it works just as well. The only benefit to using the page-then-redirect method that AWriterz uses is that if the query changes the Google link is still valid.

Yes, I have the file. It's a PSD, and all of the text is on on seperate layers, so translating should be a breeze. I don't know if you care if it's emailed or uploaded to some hosting site, but let me know which works better for you. WindRunner 03:05, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
