Miguel Angel Virasoro is an Argentinian physicist who did most of his work in Italy. The Virasoro algebra is named after him. Together with G. Parisi and M. Mezard he discovered the Ultrametric organization of low temperature spin glass states.
He was a director of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) from 1995 to 2002. He now teaches physical-mathematical models for economy at Università di Roma "La Sapienza".
