Miguel Ángel Chico Herrera

Miguel Ángel Chico Herrera (born in Irapuato, Guanajuato on March 17, 1961) is a Mexican lawyer and politician affiliated to the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) who unsuccessfully ran as the PRI candidate to Governor of Guanajuato for the 2006 Guanajuato elections held on July 2, 2006.


Chico has also unsuccessfully ran to municipal president (mayor) of Celaya, local deputy and federal deputy. He has been director of the newspaper El Sol del Bajío in his native Guanajuato.

He currently serves as President of the PRI, charge that he also held from 2005 to 2006. On March 2006 he became the PRI candidate to the governorship of Guanajuato following the resignation of Wintilo Vega to the candidacy.

He resides in Guanajuato, Guanajuato and is currently married to Maria Eugenia and has a son, Alfonso and a daughter Maria Eugenia. He has a close relationship with Francisco Arroyo the current Vice-President of the Senate of Mexico and fellow PRI party member.
