Mig 29 Soviet Fighter

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mig 29 Soviet Fighter is a combat flight simulator game developed by Codemasters in 1989 and released for several contemporary home computers as well as Nintendo Entertainment System game by Camerica (unlicensed) where the object is to defeat the World Terrorist Army. It is very similar in style to After Burner.

In the NES version, it is very easy to die in this game, since the jet can be destroyed by a single stray bullet. The only way to survive seems to be to randomly dodge around the screen. Landings are rather difficult as well, since gusts of wind throw the jet off course as it attempts to land. Landing with too much momentum generally results in a crash, as the jet collides with buildings or grounded aircraft before it has a chance to brake to a stop. Mig 29 cartridges have a small switch in the back to make the game compatible with U.S. and European systems.[1]

The original version of this game was the ZX Spectrum version, written by Richard Chaney, whilst he was a pupil at Wolfreton School, Hull, UK. The graphics and sound were added by Codemasters. The 10 names on the high score table are pupils in Richard's form at the school, giving away the game's home-grown origins.
