[edit] Damage in Wilhelm scream

Hi, and sorry for your loss. I assume that this edit was an accident? I hope it was not caused by a bug in the tool that you used. My bot put back the deleted interwiki links today, but the damage is still mostly undone. --Silvonen (talk) 07:04, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi thank you for your condolences at my loss, I just looked at the edit that I made using Twinkle, It appears that there was a massive bug in twinkle, because I was only removing a bunch of dead red-linked pages, I never meant to remove a huge hunk of the article in question and as far as I had known, Twinkle did not have the ability to remove huge sections articles without any user confirmation, therefore I am assuming that I have stumbled onto a bug and after I am done typing this message, I am going to report the bug so that it can be looked into. I would just like to apologize for all of this, as I said earlier, I was just using Twinkle to remove a bunch of dead links in an effort to clean up the article, I never meant or authorized Twinkle to go and remove such a large section of the article. Once again I apologize for this mess that my tool has caused and I hope to get this bug fixed as soon as possible, --Mifter (talk) 11:41, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Comment from 68.9.136.175

So you warn me of adding relevant information to a page that is all fun anyway, and yet there are hundreds of things going unnoticed all the time. Why don't you check out the page for George Norcross- is crooked a fair way to describe a generally respected politician? The Duck's mascot is the only mascot in NHL history to appear on the jersey, and was just voted the ugliest of all time by a hockey website, and is also generally considered among the ugliest of all time. Take a look at it please, because I'll bet you have never seen it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.9.136.175 (talk) 22:40, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, first off Wikipedia has a policy of a NPOV (Netrual Point of View) which the edits you made violated, also many edits may slip under the radar of Recent Changes patrollers, but that doesn't make them allowed and if they are seen they are generally removed. Finally, the site that you referred fails Wikipedia's policy of verifiability and thus is not an excuse for adding a point of view to an article. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask them on my talk page :). Thanks, --Mifter (talk) 22:49, 4 April 2008 (UTC) (Note: A copy of this message will be transcribed onto the IP's talk page)

What about the first sentence of that original edit? Is that not neutral too? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.9.136.175 (talk) 22:53, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about that, when I revert vandalism, the tool I use is called rollback which removes all the edits that that particular user has made, anyways, I have just re-added the September 11th fact back into the article. If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks,--Mifter (talk) 23:27, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Your kindness and constructive criticism is very much appreciated. I look forward to using the tools you have granted me to aid the project. I would like to give special thanks to Tim Vickers, Anthony and Acalamari for their nominations.

Thank you again, VanTucky

[edit] Rfa thanks

Thanks for supporting my recent request for adminship which was successful with 89 supports, 0 opposes, and 2 neutrals. Unfortunately all I can offer is this lame text thanks rather than some fancy-smancy thank-you spam template thingy. I was very pleased to receive such strong support and to hear so many nice comments from editors whom I respect. I’ll do my best with the tools, and if you ever see me going astray don’t hesitate to drop a note on my talk page. [edit] UAA report

Why did you report I LOVE YOU ALOT223 (talk · contribs)? It's not a violation that I can see, and all you said was it was "misleading". EVula // talk // // 21:08, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, First off I would like to apologize for the report because my reasons for the report were really not that good. I reported the username for two reasons, one being that it could be construed as misleading users to think that the user has affection for that user which could lead to some personal attacks, and two being that it looked as if the name could be a vandalism only account because its in all caps, I understand that my reasons are not that good, but if you look at these [1] [2] diffs which are the only edits that the user has made, both of which appear to warrant that this may be a vandalism only account. Once again I apologize for all of this, --Mifter (talk) 21:17, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
No worries, mate. The "false affection" bit is a stretch, as far as WP:U violations go. As for the edits themselves, the Halo 2 edit is definitely stupid, but the Boyle's Law edits are best dismissed as test edits; no need to classify it as a vandalism-only account at this time.
As an aside, though, I think you're spot on about the correlation between all caps and vandalism-only accounts. I wouldn't be surprised if they were blocked in the future, but for now, they seem alright, just a little bit green. EVula // talk // // 21:23, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, Giving smileys is actually very simple, all you have to do is put the following text onto someones talk page with a friendly message :). Here is the text that you would put {{subst:Smile|[[User:Zedvinerasturi|Zedvinerasturi]]|~~~~}}
I hope this gives you the answer to your question, if you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask me :). All the best, --Mifter (talk) 18:43, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] About your Barnstar

It is a great idea. I made two more, if you'd care to consider them. Tried to make them look a little like badges.

  • Image:Law Enforcement Barnstar.png
  • Image:Law Enforcement Barnstar 2.png

You are welcome to them if you like. SGT141 (talk) 20:17, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the Image suggestions, the only thing that I don't like is that the Images have a white background, so when they are used in the template, the background of the template doesn't match the star's background. Just out of curiosity, which Image program did you use to make the images? Because I have always wondered how people make Images like that :). Anyways, thanks for the suggestions :), if you could figure out the change the Image backround to match the templates color, or simply remove the backround, I would be more than happy to use the Images :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 19:12, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

OK, they should have transparent backgrounds now. I am using Photoshop for this, but I am not as proficient as I would like to be. I took an image of a five pointed badge and copied the color over a barnstar image, made it uniform and added the details to match the multiple barnstars in use. If you would like any other changes or images, let me know. I'll try to be of assistance. Stay Safe! SGT141 (talk) 03:35, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Editing

Yesterday I had edited a city's population from 9,035 to 11,027. This population was accurate information from the city's website. Today, however, I checked the population that I had edited and it was back to 9,035! I checked the history of the page and it appears that an administrator had reported my update as vandalism! Did I do something wrong? Do I need to provide proof of the edits that I make? I just want to make Wikipedia better and I am being called a vandalist! Jesussavior (talk) 21:05, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I just looked at the page, and the edit that was linked to by the template (See here) and the warning was issued to you for adding your signature to the article namespace, this is a very easy mistake to make and is also very easy to fix, in the future just remember not to add your signature to the article, also, Wikipedia articles use official United States census population results which are published every couple of years not local census results, this is done in a effort to maintain consistent population data across all articles, being that some local municipalities have censuses at different times from other areas which can lead to in-consistent results, and the official U.S. census is always done at the same time across the United States which insures consistency across all articles. I have removed the warning template that was issued to you, and I have substituted it with a template about signing article namespaces. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me :). Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 19:35, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] I published a typo

Hi Mifter, I'm a newbie and inserted a company reference in the waterjet cutter content section. I was basically getting familiar with the system and trying to add another company reference like the one for Flow International. I was able to get the message to publish, but misspelled waterjet. Yep, I'm a dope. My intention is to actually add some content of value at some point, but I'm just getting started - How do I edit this? LoDown Chicago (talk) 19:42, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

LoDown Chicago

Hi there, well first off, if you want to add some content to a page, you should generally try to find a topic area that you are rather knowledgeable about or that you are interested in (There literally thousands of stubs which are VERY short articles that could use some improvement :) ), then you can find some new information that is not currently in the article ( Try searching for the page topic on a search engine ) and add it to the article with some citations, and then your good, the following are a bunch of pages that have information that you may find useful: (You don't have to read all of the pages, I'm simply recommending that if your lost these pages have lots of useful info to help you out :) )

If you have any more questions feel free to ask me or another editor :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 20:48, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Omegapowers (talkcontribs) 16:36, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi there, the Image that you up-loaded was marked to be deleted because you did not add an Image Copyright Tag which is required to be on all Images by Wikipedia Policy, in order for it to remain on Wikipedia, you need to add one of the License tags that to the Image. The Copyright Tags for Images can be found here, just select a tag, and add it onto the Image and your done :). If you have any more questions about Copyright Tags or anything else wither it be Image related or about editing in general, feel free to ask me :). [edit] Image:Gangtok ropeway.jpg

Image:Gangtok ropeway.jpg has been tagged by you as non compatible. This image seems perfectly good for uploading on commons as it is not a copyright image. Author of this image has already tagged it so on flickr. It is tagged "Attribution" "Noncommercial" "Share Alike". I think this should be ok to upload on commons. --gppande «talk» 09:04, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi there :), unfortunately as you said Image:Gangtok ropeway.jpg is licensed as "Attribution" "Noncommercial" "Share Alike", but the only problem is that the commons does not allow Images with the "Noncommercial" tag (See the Bolded section at the top of here), if you could get the Flickr user to change the license so that it does not have the "Noncommercial" clause in its license, then it would be fine to be on the commons :). If you need me to re-review the image if you get the license changed you can contact me at my Commons Talk Page. If you have any more questions feel free to ask me :). Thanks and All the best, --Mifter (talk) 00:32, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for explaining. I have left a message to photo author on its flickr page. Lets see if he comes back on it. Otherwise I am fine with the fate of this image. --gppande «talk» 07:32, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Remember that by contributing to wikipedia you should also use your brain and knowledge and not to play self made cop . You not helping and not making wikipedia better place to learn by blocking my IP as a "vandal" because it's simply not true ... bad thing that some people without knowledge have too much time and power to block truthful and right entries ... good luck BTW ... like I said to other "cops " here ... you have lost big supporter . how to add a tag to the image?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Omegapowers (talkcontribs) 12:13, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I have just read the caption that you left for the Image, and because you said that you released Image into the Public Domain, and as such I have added a public domain tag to the Image. In response to your question though, in order to add a tag to an Image, you must first find that tag that you want, then you add the text that would be show somewhere near the Image it self, ex. {{PD-self}} would produce:

[edit] Editing on the page Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya

Hi! I have been working on page of Hemu for quite some time, infact two to three months. Recently I put all the citations on the page, but still the contents are challenged and page edited.About 12 hrs. ago one Salilb has removed some 500 bytes from the page citing vague reasons, like clean up etc. There are citations available and put on the page for whatever has been written on this site. I have put the exact words as mentioned in the books/references.At certain places some sentences seem out of place also, because they are from different books, disturbing the flow of write-up.But every effort is made to maintain accuracy.I feel accuracy should be more important to avoid any controversy. I don't mind removing any portion which is not true, but many facts have been tempered with ignoring the citations. This Page is only 60% prepared yet.More matter has to be added. Please see that only minor edits are permitted and not like Salilb has done. This is discouraging.

Sudhirbhargava —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.198.128.131 (talk) 01:32, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello Sudhirbhargava, the citations which you have are from books which appears to have a glorifying and biased tone. This is ok for a biography but is unencyclopaedic and unsuitable for Wikipedia. Please read Neutral point of view/FAQ and also the Talk page of Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya for contesting my POV arguments. Edits should be made only when a neutral point is agreed upon. I also made some grammar and punctuation corrections, I guess you should be ok with those. Salilb (talk) 03:03, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

POVs on page Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya: Hi!I have replied to POV arguments. Thanks for grammar and punctuation corrections. Two deletions are acceptable.Page is yet to be completed. An early action shall be appreciated. Sudhirbhargava —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sudhirbhargava (talkcontribs) 07:46, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello Everyone :), While using Huggle (An Anti-Vandalism Tool), I came across your edit, and the reason that I reverted the changes that you have made is because you removed the {{POV-check}} template from the top of the article which is against Wikipedia Policy. That is the only reason that your edits were marked as vandalism. Seeing that this is a topic of discussion with many other users involved, I reccommend that you continue to talk everything out at the articles talk page and reach an agreement :). Although because you all seem to be dis-agreeing about the article you should follow Wikipedia's Dispute resolution process, if as a last resort after you have exhausted all of the possibilities for Dispute resolution, and if one of you wanted you could refer the case to the Mediation Committee so that a committee of un-biased editors could help you all reach a decision. Although the best advice that I have is to just follow WP:DR and try to work this out among yourselves. If you have any more questions feel free to ask :). [edit] MONITOR THEORY

I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF EDITING THAT WHEN YOU REVERTED IT. THE ARTICLE HAS NUMEROUS PROBLEMS, AMONG THEM THE FACT THAT IT IS WRONG AND UNREFERENCED AND REPEATS 5 OTHER ARTICLES. WHY NOT LET SOMEONE FINISH EDITING AND SEE WHAT THEY'VE DONE BEFORE YOU UNDO IT?!?!?! Lpjurca (talk) 20:03, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

NOT TO MENTION THAT I WAS ADDING MORE INFORMATION AND REFERENCES THAT THE ARTICLE NEEDED, WHICH IS WHAT WE'RE SUPPOSED TO DO. WHY SHOULD I WASTE MY TIME IF SOME CREEP LIKE YOU IS GOING TO COME AND CHANGE IT?!?

DO YOU EVEN KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT LINGUISTICS? BECAUSE IF YOU DID, YOU WOULD SEE THAT THIS ARTICLE NEEDS ALOT OF HELP.l —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lpjurca (talkcontribs) 20:07, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello There Lpjurca, I am sorry that you are angry that I reverted your edits, but the reason that I reverted those edits is because for your last edit before I reverted you, you blanked to page which appeared to be obvious vandalism and as such I instructed Huggle to revert it and warn you. I apologize for any trouble that this has caused you; all the text changes that you made before you blanked the page are still visible in the page history if you wish to re-add the changes. Thanks, and All the Best :), --Mifter (talk) 20:09, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

The reason I blanked the page is because I'm trying to add the corollaries of the hypothesis as they are set forth by Krashen, and for some reason, when I save it, everything below that, including the criticism, references, and further reading disappear. I can find nothing in the code to cause this, so I decided to try again from the blank page. It was not vandalism. If you want to help me figure out WHY everything below the corollaries is disappearing so I can improve the article, then by all means, please help. But if you're just going to waste my time, then I'll take my knowledge and articles and editing skills elsewhere. Lpjurca (talk) 20:14, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Again, I have found exactly what you did wrong :) after you are done adding a reference you have to put the code </ref> after the end of the reference or otherwise the rest of the page will be counted as the ref and it will seem to disappear, I have just re-instated all of the changes that you have made, and after I am done typing this I will go remove the warning from your talk page. I apologize for this whole mis-understanding and I hope now that you know what caused the text to disappear that you can continue to help Wikipedia with you skill and knowledge in that subject area. Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 20:21, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your assistance in figuring out the problem. I feel that the improvements I have made to the article now will be incredibly helpful for anyone looking for more information about the Monitor Theory. I'm sorry I called you a creep. If you would like to look at the article and see what I have done, then feel free. If at this point, you still do not feel that my changes are worthwhile, then by all means, now that I am finished, feel free to make what changes you want. Lpjurca (talk) 21:00, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] I beg your pardon?

How on earth do you figure that this edit was vandalism? Before you reverted my edit and told me in not so many words that I was some kind of vandal scum who wasn't welcome on Wikipedia, did you bother taking a moment to check how long ago the third series of Tittybangbang finished? I'll give you a little hint: the answer's at the Tittybangbang article. Oh, and did you take just a moment or so to have a look at my recent edits and see whether or not they looked like the behaviour of a vandal? Obviously not. No, I tried to update an article to reflect the fact that Charlie Higson is no longer "currently starring" in a series which ended last year, and you tell me that my edit was "unconstructive".

Do you think that I'll ever bother editing Wikipedia and improving articles again? Of course I won't, because people like you who seem to think that they are the big I am go round erasing my valid efforts and leaving me nasty messages telling me to sod off. Nice. 86.167.87.40 (talk) 21:24, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh my God, you're not even looking at people's edits before reverting them, are you? What is all this about? Someone has removed a stupid bunch of nonsense from an article, which REALLY did not belong there. They've taken the time to make the article better, to improve it, to contribute something valid to Wikipedia. You've looked at it, thought "Hmm, another pesky anonymous editor" and you've just reverted their edit, reinserting a load of stupid nonsense into the article. YOU DID NOT EVEN LOOK AT THEIR EDIT BEFORE REVERTING IT. As with my edit, you didn't even bother taking a few moments to look at the edit, you just reverted it. Why are you doing this to people? Does it make you feel important?
Please, I beg you - would you just take some time to look through all your rolling back, and see how many valid, useful contributions you're erasing in some effort to build up your edit count (or whatever it is you're doing)? And would you kindly reverse any of your rollbacks that were a little hasty? And make remove your nasty messages from the relevant talk pages in which you tell people like me and the Magaluf editor that their edits aren't constructive? Thanks in advance. 86.167.87.40 (talk) 21:36, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I reverted your edits because to me it appeared to be a test edit because if you look you also added the following text to the article

<ref>Insert non-formatted text here</ref>

And, for that reason, I reverted it as a test edit, unfortunately Huggle (An anti-vandal Program) uses the same warnings for all users so you got an anti vandal warning not a test edit notice. And because of that I apologize, and I will mention adding a "Good Faith" information template to the designers of Huggle so that in the future you won't get a vandal warning for a Good faith edit. About the second diff that you supplied, I reverted that because the user appeared to be removing a large section of an article so I reverted the edit and I do thank you for bringing that to my attention, because after looking at it actually was a bunch of garbage and deserved to be deleted, and as result I have removed the warning from the IP's talk page and the section of the article. And I assure I DO look at absolutely every rollback that I do before I do actually do the rollback, but, unfortunately, there are plenty of edits that at first look appear to be vandalism but in reality are good users trying to make the encyclopedia better. I apologize for all of this, unfortunately sometimes mistakes are made, and all I can do is apologize and fix the errors that I have made. Also, I have removed the warning template from your page, and replaced it with a Welcome to Wikipedia Message, Once Again I apologize for this it was an honest mistake and it was also one that I should have avoided. I would also like to thank you for brining all of this to my attention so that I could fix this, and in the future I will be more careful in reverting edits that could be vandalism but could also be legitimate edits. Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 23:56, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Law Enforcement Barnstar Proposal Poll

Thanks for the invite to vote on this, but I have had effectively no Internet access for over two weeks, and I see that it has WP:Snowballed to a close.

I must plead ignorance, being relatively new, so, sorry, what is a barnstar actually ?

Cheers. Peet Ern (talk) 01:48, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi There Pee Tern, you actually have a very good question. A barnstar on Wikipedia, is an award that is given to a specific editor to recognize a specific edit of particular merit that the user has made, some users chose to display them on their userpages, but this varies from editor to editor. Barnstars can be giving out to everyone by anyone, and their's a barnstar for pretty much any thing that you can think of :). More information can be found at WP:STAR. If you have any more questions at all feel free to ask :). Thanks, and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 20:52, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] RE: User creation rights

Hey Mifter,

I would be happy too assign you the rights, but to be honest I don't think you have spent quite enough time at WP:ACC yet. The first part of the criteria states that you must be familiar with the process and be active in creating accounts, and from your contributions I see you have only done about 8, all but one of them yesterday. In other words, you maxed out yesterday and promptly requested the ability to exceed the max. All I'm saying is I think you might want to give it a few more days. Tell you what, if you come back and ask me again when you have maxed out for 2-3 more days over this week, then it will show you aren't going to loose interest in the idea, and I'll be happy to grant you the right.

That fair? :) happy to help, as always. SGGH speak! 08:37, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi SGGH :), I agree with your judgment and I was myself wondering wither or not to wait to until I had more experience with the WP:ACC process before asking you to grant me the rights, I do understand your concerns and I will be sure to leave you a message towards the end of the week concerning the rights. I would also like to thank you for your opinion about this matter, as you know I have only been here for a few months while you have been here a few years, and because of that I trust your and your judgment completely (Within reason :) ). You have had so much more experience that I have in so many fields I could fill a page full of them :). Once again Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 23:01, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for waiting, all sorted. Enjoy SGGH speak! 09:06, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Not vandalism.

This Grossberg, who is 20 years old, claims to be the current mayor of Boston. You have no problem with this insane claim?! Maybe you should let my change stand since you are not aware of the accounting for graduation years at Central HS. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.255.137.42 (talk) 20:44, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I have just gone a checked all the edits that you made and I have just realized that you were merely removing obvious vandalism, and I would like to apologize for all of this, when I saw that you had changed the text after him to "Delusional egomaniac" it made it look like vandalism and because of that I reverted your edits and issued you a vandalism warning template. I have removed the warning templates from your user talk page and added a Welcome to Wikipedia template. Once again, I would like to apologize for all of this. Thanks, and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 23:09, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya

Hi there! After your blocking and allowing me edits, this page has gone massive deletions. Some 6250 bytes, say 25% of page has been deleted without assigning convincing reasons. As I told earlier 90% write up is by me on this page. I have put citations for 60% of the page and was in the process of putting citations for the rest, when these deletions took place. This is very disheartening, and I wonder how I complete this page now with this kind of attitude. Please advise. --117.198.129.251 (talk) 17:11, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey there Chubbennaitor :), Thanks for the Barnstar :) I am glad that you appreciate the work that I have done and continue doing for Wikipedia in welcoming users as well as writing new article :). Thanks a ton and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 20:10, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:BlissLogo.gif)

Hi Mifter - I just received an "Orphaned non-free image" notice from you regarding a logo I uploaded to my userpage. Since this is my first Wikipedia article, I am creating it on my userpage, so the image i've uploaded is not currently connected to the page I will ultimately be posting (Blissworld, LLC). Is it possible to keep the uploaded logo on my userpage until I am ready to contribute the finalized page to Wikipedia? Thank you for your assistance! Anythingless (talk) 20:01, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, Anythingless. As long as you finish the article and put it into the mainspace before May 27th the Image will not be deleted, Just for future reference, Fair Use Images are generally not allowed outside the article namespace :), although as long as you finish the article soon and get the Image off your userpage, you should be fine, If you want, I could make you your own personal sandbox, this way you could have your own little page to use specifically for your articles under construction. If you want me to create a sandbox for you or have any other questions feel free to ask me :). Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 22:33, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the warm welcome (and I appreciate the cookies too - chocolate chip...my favorite)! I hope to have the page up by the 27th but would like to take you up on your offer to create a personal sandbox for me. That way I can, as you said, use that page for my 'under contruction' articles. I'm sure i'll have more questions for you in the future, thanks so much for reaching out and offering your assistance! Anythingless (talk) 15:00, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi again, I'm glad that you like the cookies :). I have just created your sandbox, and you can find it by clicking here. Also, I have just removed the tag from the Image, so as long as you get the article up to the mainspace before the 5th of June, it should be fine :). If you have any more questions feel free to ask, and I'll answer the best that I can :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 21:17, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi Mifter! I moved the article from my talk page to the sandbox you created for me and am nearly finished with the article. I love if you could take a look today (if you have the time) and tell me what you think. I am open to your suggestions - especially since you are a veteran Wikipedian! Thanks so much for your help along the way! Anythingless (talk) 13:22, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] NOT VANDALISM

Plesae not do not correct my revisions and mark them as vandalism, they are corrections. Do you want wikipedia to be full of factual errors? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.2.140.229 (talk) 00:34, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello there, I would like to apologize for that mistake, I accidently thought that you were removing legitimate information, After taking a second look I realize that I made a mistake, and I would like to apologize for that, Unfortunately, sometimes when fighting vandalism, I misinterpret good edits as bad edits and thus revert them as vandalism. I really do appreciate you telling me this so that I can undo my edits and remove the warning from your talk page. Once again I apologize for all of this and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 00:44, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Britain and Ireland

Hi, no my edit at Britain and Irleand wasn't unconstructive (how did you work that out). I'm just trying to get back to the status quo. It was agreed that it should be a redirecft (See the Talk page), but there are agressive editors on the article who have other ideas. Have a look a the debate. Cheers. 141.6.8.73 (talk) 00:36, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey there, I would like to apologize for reverting your edits :). I did not know that there had been a discussion and a consensus to merge and re-direct the articles. I have removed the warning template from your userpage, and once again I apologize for all of this :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 00:57, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] article rating

Please take a another look at Che Guevara. MILHIST has still rated it as start class because it doesn't satisfy our B-class standards. Wandalstouring (talk) 06:47, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

I went through it and found complete and very important sections uncited, that is not B-class quality. The rules are clear, all major points have inline citations. That does not mean that there needs to be a quantity, but citations for all major points. Wandalstouring (talk) 16:36, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for offering to help

Thank you.

Yes, I very much need your help.

I'll be co-coordinating a collaboration/competition starting July 15th, which hopefully gives enough time to prepare for it.

It'll be the biggest project I've ever co-coordinated on Wikipedia - bigger than the help system redesign, bigger than the WP:TOTD, and bigger even than the main page redesign. This goal of this project is the development of over 200 pages.

The competition will have at least 3 awards: a general award (a globe), a monthly award (a medal), and a world champion award (a trophy).

I've asked WBOSITG to help finish up the first of the 3 awards' images here: User talk:WBOSITG#World Traveller Award, and I've summarized everything done so far on that one.

The second award, will include an image of a medal - which is what I need your talents for. I haven't done anything on it at all, and was hoping I could leave the image wizardry up to you. What I need is a medal that hangs from a ribbon that "goes around the recipient's neck" (virtually, of course). It's the "Wikipedia World Development Award". It should look real (not like a cartoon), and should be geographically- and Wikipedia-themed. Perhaps you could emboss a world map on the medal. The medal should be off-angle a little, so you can see its thickness. Most importantly, the medal must be IMPRESSIVE-looking.

Please keep a flexible attitude, because design development could go any which way. I sometimes don't know what I want until I see it.

Thank you for volunteering, and I look forward to your first design round.

Oh yeah, it should be a fairly large image, to support detail. The final image will be shrunk down via a parameter in the image link syntax.

[edit] First Cut of AWC Medal Award

Hi there,

I have just gone and created the first version of the Award Centers New Award, and before I added the full ribbon, removed the background, and changed the layout of the medal so it on an angle and looks like it’s a thick gold medal. I thought I would show it to you first :). Also I have started on a ribbon alternative for the award, because some Editors chose to show ribbons to display there awards and barnstars instead of showing the actual award :). So without Further Ado here's the first version of the award NOTE: This is only the first draft, I still have to do a lot of editing on it before its ready to use :)

The Upper Left White Image is going to be the ribbon alternative while the big one with the medal will be the actual award.
The Upper Left White Image is going to be the ribbon alternative while the big one with the medal will be the actual award.

I am open to any feedback before I add the Full ribbon, change the backround, etc. :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 16:33, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

You are definitely the right person for this - you have the skills I have been looking for. The medal I have in mind is more like a Gold Medal, and the ribbon I was talking about is the kind you wear around your neck. Here's an example of a medal with a neck ribbon:
Also, the medal itself should be displayed at an angle (not as angled as in the picture above, but not straight on), so its thickness can be seen (like the edge of a big coin).
Could the words "Wikipedia World Development Award" be engraved, embossed/minted on the medal?
The medal must be impressive, so the more official-looking and regal the medal, the better. Gold seems appropriate for this.
Dates aren't practical, because this medal will be given out monthly.
I hope the above feedback helps.

[edit] Vandalism?

Surely adding a {{hangon}} tag to a page isn't vandalism. —BradV 19:12, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I apologize for that, I had told Huggle to undo the reverts that I had done, but by the time that Huggle had done the undo, the page had already been deleted by an admin. Once again I apologize for all of this and wish you All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 19:19, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
No worries. —BradV 19:22, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] reverted addition to plot

re: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_of_NIMH, why did you revert the addition of plot info? without the addition, the plot summary picks up in the middle, and is less clear. seems to me that the addition was an improvement, but i wanted to hear your rational before doing anything.

[edit] Medal V2

What Do You Think of the New Version 2 Medal :)? I apologize for it taking so long with it :(, anyways; I wanted to show you the medal before I added the Ribbon to it, although I am having a bit of a hard time tilting the medal on its side to show how thick it is (I am not sure exactly how to render it on its side like you wanted). But anyways I would love to hear your opinion about Version 2.0 of the Award :). Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 18:57, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Nope, it's not what I'm looking for. It shouldn't include any element of the globe award in there. The awards are not supposed to match. What I need is an engraved gold medal. I provided the Jimbo medal as an example only. The medal I'm looking for is a gold medal with a world map engraved in it. The only words on the new medal should be "Wikipedia World Developer", engraved, wrapped, and centered along the inner bottom edge of the medal. Is all that something you can do? [edit] RE:RFA Nomination

Hello Mifter

First of all I would like to thank you very much for attempting to nominate me, and I am glad I have had such an affect on you like the one you stated. At the moment I am refining my edits so a coach would be happy to do exactly that with me, and hopefully one day I will be an Administrator but I need more time to refine my edits and generally build up a good rapport as the selection process is stringent. At the moment I am sadly going to decline because of the above and advice from two Admins I have gone to in search of coaching, but one day in the near-ish future I would love to be able to accept your nomination. Many thanks again. Yours, Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 14:27, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AWB for editing

I noticed that you use AWB for editing an you say a few words about this tool tx Bodyarmor (talk) 11:59, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi there :), I would love to help you with AWB, but your question was kind of vague, if you could re-state your question so that its a bit clearer, I would appreciate it :). Anyways, here’s the best answer to your question as I currently interpret it :). I think that AWB is a very useful tool that can be used for many practical tasks on Wikipedia such as fixing spelling errors, repairing bad wiki links and subseting templates. AWB is currently limited to editors with over 500 mainspace (Article) edits, the reason for this is because the tool has a huge potential for vandalism and the 500 edit rule helps to prevent vandal use of the tool. I hope that answered your question, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 00:21, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
