Mieczysław Nowak (December 22, 1936 – May 17, 2006) was a Polish weight lifter and a three-time olympian in the featherweight (60 kg) weight class.
He won the bronze medal at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He was 5th at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City and 7th at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich.
He was also the World Champion in 1970 in Columbus, Ohio. He also won silver medals at two consecutive World Championships: in 1965 in Tehran and in 1966 in Berlin, and his Olympic bronze was also the World Championships bronze in 1964 (at the time, the Olympics competition also constituted the world championships). He earned 5 medals at the European Championships, including 3 gold (in 1965, 1966 and 1968), 1 silver (in 1970, competing in bantamweight) and 1 bronze (in 1972). He was a 4-time Polish Champion during 1965-1967 and in 1970. Thirteen times he had set a Polish national record.
Nowak was born in Chomęcice, and died in Nowy Dwór Gdański, where he worked as a coach and a sports official.
