From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Howdy Midnight XII,

Welcome to Wikipedia, and a special thank you for your constructive edits on the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices page - it is greatly appreciated. Please note that using inline references is generally preferred over dangling external links, so I reverted the article back to using the reference notation. If you do not feel that is appropriate for some reason, please feel free to click "discussion" at the top of that article page and we can explore the reasons. Also, if you have not already, you can click "watch" at the top of that page (and any others that interest you) to create a watch list from which you can monitor your favorite pages for incorrect changes (while keeping in mind that we don't own them).

I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might find helpful:

Thanks, and if you have any questions or problems, no matter what they are, leave me a message on my talk page (click the "T" after my name). Or, please come to the new contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have. Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Lastly, please be sure to sign your name on talk/discussion pages by typing ~~~~; our software automatically converts it to your username and the date. Again, welcome!—Mrand T-C 19:34, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Rateitall.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Rateitall.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:20, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Tread lightly logo.gif

Image:Tread lightly logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
