[edit] Requested move

Request to move as the spelling of Midnapore is used by the official indian government website - http://districts.nic.in/disdetails.asp?sc=wb . Change can't be done automatically as Midnapore is a redirect here. - Master Of Ninja 10:19, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

This article has been renamed after the result of a move request. Dragons flight 02:00, August 31, 2005 (UTC)

If there are no objections, I'm moving this back to Midnapore. The title of the article looks incredibly unprofessional right now. Also the move was executed by a user whose only contribution was, in fact, this page move. I agree that they are both "equally popular names", but Midnapore is the official name and that is where it should be. — riana_dzasta wreak havoc|damage report 10:20, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for detailed history

I had added some information about the strategic importance of the town during the Bargee invasion of Bengal. As far as I know, the Vagrant's Home near College Math was originally a fort of the Bargees. May be somebody could insert a detailed and more accurate history of that time? [edit] Overhaul to conform with wiki guidelines

I have done a complete overhaul to conform with wikis Project India guidelines. I've added a lot of information. However information in a subheading on the GEOGRAPHY and CLIMATE would be highly appreciated.

I've completed the sections since my last post and I think the version we have right now is mostly done and "stable". --Antorjal 16:09, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
