Jim didn't have much computer experience at that point. I told him about display technology and how it would eventually be used for page layout. I brought him to SAIL, where he saw Space War, etc. That visit was one thing that led Jim to redirect his career. Jim never worked at PARC. I did. The story of the genesis of copy/cut/paste is in the commentary on page 4 of the PUB Manusl - see http://www.nomodes.com/pub_manual.html. Also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gypsy_%28software%29, which is fairly accurate except that I had named cut and paste before ever having any contact with Ginn.
