I have added a random article selector. The code looks like this:

{{Random portal component|max=1|header=Selected article|footer=More articles...|subpage=Selected article}}

This will randomly select one article to be displayed on the main page from the n possible articles stored on the Portal:Middle Ages/Selected article list. The "max" attribute will determine the first n articles to choose from. This will allow anyone to add content and it will rotate automatically on each visit.
