Midway Arcade Treasures 3 is an arcade racing compilation for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube. It is the third installment following Midway Arcade Treasures and Midway Arcade Treasures 2.

Unlike in previous installments, Midway Arcade Treasures 3 only features arcade racing games unless stated otherwise. They include:

Furthermore, while most of the games in this collection are emulations or recreations of the arcade versions, Hydro Thunder and Rush 2049 are based on the console versions. As a result (and because this collection only features racing games), the name "Midway Arcade Treasures" in this instance can be considered misleading.

The back of the Pal Playstation 2 version packaging states that the game disc includes " Game Histories, Developer Interviews and top secret documents". These Special Features are not included in the game.

Super Off Road/Track Pack is the only game on this collection (and by extension, on this series) that was not developed by Williams, Midway, or Atari Games. It was developed and published by The Leland Corporation.

Also, for legal reasons, the image of "Ironman" Ivan Stewart has been altered in the two Super Off Road games; he now has sunglasses and a mustache, and both games are now known as simply "Super Off Road" (the original arcade versions were known fully as "Ironman Ivan Stewart's Super Off Road"). "Ironman's" Speed Shop was re-named Off-Road Speed Shop, and Ivan himself (the gray, AI-controlled racer) was renamed "Lightning" Kevin Lydy. Ivan's name does, however, remain intact on the high score list ("IVN") and game credits.

[edit] Emulation faults

PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions

The PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions suffer from a few minor and major emulation glitches in some of the games. In San Francisco Rush 2049, the PS2 version has a couple sound issues with the engines and the Xbox version can sometimes lock-up and have corrupted saves. The PS2 version also has framerate issues when two or more players play Rush 2049, reducing the framerate from 60 frames per second to 30 frames per second and even lower when three and four players play.

Owners Of A 70001X series Slim PlayStation 2 may have different problems and fixes due to the integrated EE+GS.

Also if the ps2 is bumped sharply during loading a game, the game may display a blue screen with something like cdrom0/ and a name of a file.

Nintendo GameCube version

The GameCube version was released a full month after the other two versions, as it was not in development the same time as the PS2 and Xbox versions. The sound issues, lock-ups, and corrupted saves in Rush 2049 from the PS2 and Xbox versions have been fixed, and the game is overall more like the Sega Dreamcast version which it is a port of; however, the framerate issues in Single Race mode from the PS2 version are preserved, though the slowdowns in the Stunt and Battle modes have been fixed. Bink Video compression is also used in this version in all of the Full Motion Videos (FMV's). The only games in this collection that have FMV's are Rush: The Rock and Off-Road Thunder, but this compression format is also used in the preview videos that play on the main menu, the trailer for Ed, Edd n Eddy: The Mis-Edventures, the Midway Arcade Treasures 3 trailer, and the Midway Arcade Treasures 3 credits video.
