Midway is a city in Woodford County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,620 at the 2000 census. It is located midpoint between Frankfort and Lexington along the single-track railroad. The town is home to a major thoroughbred race horse breeding operation, the Three Chimneys Farm. In 2003, faced with a declining downtown, a major streetscape renovation project began as part of Main Street Kentucky. New period structures were completed, and the addition of new period lighting and sidewalks have brought new life into the town.

Midway is located at 38°9′2″N, 84°40′59″W (38.150484, -84.683014)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.8 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 1,620 people, 623 households, and 409 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,484.3 people per square mile (573.8/km²). There were 672 housing units at an average density of 615.7/sq mi (238.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 89.81% White, 7.72% African American, 0.31% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 1.17% from other races, and 0.93% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.42% of the population.

There were 623 households out of which 28.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.1% were married couples living together, 8.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.2% were non-families. 28.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.96.

In the city the population was spread out with 21.0% under the age of 18, 14.1% from 18 to 24, 29.9% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 75.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 73.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $50,909, and the median income for a family was $60,326. Males had a median income of $35,795 versus $32,500 for females. The per capita income for the city was $24,528. About 2.0% of families and 3.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 0.6% of those under age 18 and 14.2% of those age 65 or over.
