Midland Secondary School is located in the Midland community near the intersection of Hugel Ave. and Highway 93. Students attend from Midland and surrounding areas including Hillsdale, Port McNicoll, Waubashene, Victoria Harbour, Honey Harbour, and Christian Island. MSS has a rich historical background, with a focus on scholarship, social responsibility, and community partnerships. MSS offers a diverse range of open, applied and academic courses in Grade 9 through 12, a Life Skills and an off-site Alternative Learning Program. All school programs focus on academics, co-curricular, and community involvement. Each semester approximately 175 honour students are recognized.
MSS celebrated its 100th anniversary in May of 2004. The school's curriculum emphasized computer technology in our curriculum. Networked and stand-alone computers are in all classrooms and the library, and Internet access is throughout the school.
Students at Midland Secondary are involved in Student Council initiatives; ambassadors program; international student exchanges; co-curricular programs associated with music, art, and drama; a variety of special interest clubs; and athletics.
