Established in 1879, Middleton High School is a comprehensive public secondary school of the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District, located in the city of Middleton, Wisconsin. The school serves more than 1,900 students in grades 9-12 from the Middleton and Cross Plains areas from September to June. Middleton is located along the western shore of Lake Mendota and is one of the fastest growing communities in Dane County. Middleton's school nickname is the Cardinals. Their athletic teams play at the WIAA Division 1 level, and they are part of the WIAA Big Eight Conference, which consists of teams from the Southern Wisconsin area. Middleton also has an alternative high school (Middleton Alternative School High or MASH), where students take similar classes.

As of October 2006, the current head principal is Dr. Denise Hermann.
