From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Middle College High School, also referred to as MCHS, is a charter high school located on the campus of LaGuardia Community College located in Long Island City in Queens, New York. MCHS houses approximately 500 students in the L building of LaGuardia College's campus.

Middle College is known for allowing students to take both high school and college level courses at LaGuardia which, in turn, earns them credit for both institutions. This program, called the Excel Program locally, lets students attain an Associates Degree upon their graduation of high school.

Classes run on 70-minute schedules, with five classes a day. Half-days are granted every Wednesday where classes run on 35-minutes. Students are given more autonomy than average high school students, where they are on an open campus. In addition, students and teachers are on first-name basis, creating for a casual learning environment.
