Mid-Atlantic Pagan Alliance

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mid-Atlantic Pagan Alliance (MPA), founded in June of 1999 by Robin Albright and Marc Wicoff, is primarily a social organization, dedicated to bringing people of alternative religious paths together in social settings; with an emphasis on the Pagan/Witch/Wiccan/Druid Mid-Atlantic States subcultures. By doing so the MPA helps to cultivate the Pagan community, and create a camaraderie feeling between itself and other local covens, groves and solitary practitioners.

The group’s other mission is to help edify the general public’s understanding of who and what the Pagan community is. This has been done by community outreach projects and voluntary community service such as the group’s NJDOT Adopt-a-highway campaign along Route 37 in Toms River, New Jersey; the MPA being the first Pagan organization to take part in the DOT’s project.

In 2005, the MPA had a membership base of approximately 400 people. Members are drawn from all across the country, but are mainly from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware and the rest of the Mid-Atlantic area. The group’s home is currently Ocean County, New Jersey.

The organization holds various social events throughout the year including beach parties, meet-ups at other organizations’ events and an annual Beltane celebration. Solidarity is the ambition of the MPA Inner Core Group, which coordinates the group’s efforts. Family togetherness and fun are always priorities at an MPA event.
