Mid America Motorplex is a Alan Wilson designed road circuit close to Council Bluffs/Omaha in Pacific Junction Iowa. It's a relatively safe track for people to learn to drive their cars at High Performance Driving Events. It's low speed (most cars under 300 bhp), maximum speeds are around 120 mph (190 km/h) with cornering speeds around 50 mph (80 km/h) with the exception of turn 4 which is a fairly fast left hander at around 80-100 mph. There is a lot of space for cars which run off the track with the exception of the area around the track exit where a local PCA instructor has the privilege of being the only guy to hit that spot. There is a drag strip at the track and the track surface is a special asphalt where doesn't wear tires but as a result offers less grip than other tracks with more abrasive surfaces. The track can also be driven in the rain but the surrounding run off areas quickly turn to mud and many cars are buried up to the tops of their wheels in mud if they slide off in those conditions.
There is food available at the track and there is plenty of paddock space for working on cars between lapping sessions. There are weekly open track events for the locals to gain track time.
There is a motorbike school at the track as well as most local car clubs such as the PCA run driving education sessions.
