[edit] Wasps and Relatives
Hello! According to your Babel you speak the Catalan language very well. Can you translate a term please? I want to know, what is the term "Wasps and Relatives" translated to Catalan language? Thank you, very much, DocTaxon 12:02, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- The literal translation for "Wasps and relatives" is "Abelles i parents". You are talking about hymenopterus-himenòpters I suppose, I've never seen that sentence used as an idiom. Greetings. --Michael Retriever 21:43, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- Sure; relatives (English) / parientes (Spanish) / parents (Catalan): individuals who have some family connection. First used only with parental connections, got extended to any family connection shortly after becoming a different language from Latin. --Michael Retriever 23:23, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- DocTaxon! I have to say that translation is wrong, I confused wasp with bee. Wasp is vespa. So Abelles i parents is the equivalent to "Bees and relatives", while Vespes i parents is the equivalent to "Wasps and relatives". Hope the mistake didn't interfere too much with what you wanted to do with the translation. --Michael Retriever 11:48, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

- Your confusion of wasp with bee is not so bad. But I could find an equivalent in the English language: "Wasps and Relatives" = "Wasps and Allies". What is the translation into Spanish and Catalan for this term, "Wasps and Allies". Thank you for your help, DocTaxon 12:23, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Beautiful synonym; but no, the word "ally" in catalan doesn't have that meaning. Indeed els parents de les vespes are "the allies of the wasps", but if you prefer I'll write other ways to say the same thing: el llinatge de les vespes, "the lineage of the wasps"; el llinatge dels himenòpters, "the lineage of the hymenopterus"; la família dels himenòpters, "the family of the hymenopterus"; la família himenòptera, "the hymenoptera family"; les vespes tenen parentiu amb altres himenòpters, "the wasps have kinship with other himenopterus"; els parents de les vespes, "the kins of the wasps" or "the relatives of the wasps" or "the allies of the wasps". --Michael Retriever 10:47, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Binomial theorem generalization
Do you have a proof (or can you find it) of B-Theorem for real exponents. You have used the general formula that is proved (by induction) only for integers. You haven't submitted the proof for non-integers, but you have just said that writing the B-coefficients differently we can calculate them for non-integer numbers. Please if you can find it, I've been searching it for some time, post it on your page.
Thank you!
