[edit] Recombinant text

Hi Michael, the concept of recombinant text sounds very interesting, but do there exist any sources on this subject which have not been written by you. Otherwise this would probably constiture Wikipedia:Original research. —Ruud 14:36, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi Ruud, there are no significant secondary sources yet; it is undeniably original research. My hope is Wikipedians will tolerate it, at least temporarily, until critical sources emerge. It has many connections with other articles, is written in a neutral style, and so forth. So I hope they judge it useful, on balance. If you have concerns though, I will try to address them. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Recombinant text, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. [edit] AfD nomination of Recombinant text

I have nominated Recombinant text, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Recombinant text. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. NF24(radio me!) 12:21, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

  • But I would have participated in the discussion from the outset if you'd spoken with me first, at least briefly, before initiating AfD. It might have made a difference to the outcome. Michael Allan (talk) 18:33, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Etiquette violation

Michael,

In the eyes of one editor, I have trespassed against you. You may wish to look at these posts on my talk page, as well as my contribution history. If you feel you have been wronged by my actions, I apologize; my intent was to learn about policy. But according to one editor, I have violated policy by the manner in which I sought to learn about it. I will not be a participant in the AfD discussion on your article; I am insufficiently familar with policy to have formed a clear opinion. Unschool (talk) 15:22, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

  • No, no, don't exclude yourself. Nobody's more clueless about the rules here, than I am. I've broken plenty... Please join the AfD. Michael Allan (talk) 18:06, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sockpuppetry case

You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Dorftrottel for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. Mr Senseless (talk) 15:54, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Michael, thanks again for the email and money you sent. Don't worry, this might be called meatpuppetry if someone finds out about our supersecret collusion (so do not mention it onwiki!!), but it's verifiably not sockpuppetry. Remember, I'm always available to POV edit on anyone's behalf, if of course the price is right. Greetings to your wife. User:Dorftrottel 16:44, January 12, 2008
    • Just in case: Do not worry, I was just screwing around because the sockpuppet allegation is totally ludicrous. I merely happened to be the only one arguing to keep your article on recombinant text, so the first thing to assume (for some) was that we are the same person. Since our IPs are probably totally different (unless you're editing from Germany), I felt like jokingly referring to a non-existent email exchange and payment to vent my frustration with the fact that Wikipedia contains innumerable amounts of fully unreferenced, in-universe fancruft articles on e.g. non-notable minor Star Wars characters, but clamps down on an interesting and well-written article like yours. Best regards, User:Dorftrottel 16:52, January 12, 2008
    •  :) Thank you Dorftrottel, for defending the article on principle. Sorry I didn't chime in earlier, Michael Allan (talk) 18:22, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
