[edit] Great work on the terrace houses !

Being from Brisbane, so seeing my beloved Cook's Terrace and the one Edmonstone Street all in one place on Wikipedia is just plain awesome. Good to see some dig up some great examples from Sydney as well. I have travelled the country finding some great examples of terrace housing in the inner city areas. I only have access to Melbourne at the moment and none of my photos from Sydney and Newcastle were in digital. Nevertheless, I'm hoping to get back to Newcastle and or Launceston to take some snaps. Anyway, great work, the article is looking great these days keep it up ! --Biatch 07:05, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Black Gate

Thanks for the correction, I'm just a soft southerner temporarily exiled to Newcastle for a few weeks this year. It all becomes a blur once I'm north of Watford. Jimfbleak.talk.12:12, 4 January 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Image: On Everleigh Street.jpg

Hey I loved your shots of Redfern for the Redfern Article, but I just thought I would note that your image "On Everleigh Street" is actually on Lawson Street. I live on the street, and the pub at the very end of the street is at the intersection of Lawson Street and Abercrombie.

For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 10:15, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey Michael. Good work on the photos from Armidale! Sorry I never got the chance; I destroyed my car soon after I promised to go picture taking - still waiting on insurance things. How were res schools? --Biggles 23:40, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Camperdown gallery

Hi JBar I note you saw my photos re Camperdown. As I was inserting the WikiTable I realised that it would not be in 'proportion' with the other galleries on the page. I personally prefer WikiTable because, as you may have noticed, it is possible to put in a strip of piccies that has photos big enough for casual browsers to see a reasonable sized photo without necessarily having to click on a little thumbnail to see a larger picture. Often that's all they require. WikiTable doesn't take up much more real estate on the page, if any, than the old style gallery which contains a lot of white space, and as a fairly prolific poster of images of terraces and other old buildings in Australia I tend to use WikiTable as opposed to gallery. What are your thoughts on this? (as an example of a WikiTable version of Gallery see my photos at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubbo,_New_South_Wales - Architecture)- Personally I would like to see all galleries upgraded to WikiTable where appropriate. Cheers Michael --MichaelGG (talk) 12:04, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

G'Day Michael. I actually preferred the look of wikitables too and was using them for my photos in a number Sydney suburb articles. A while ago, wiki administrators went through all the Sydney suburb articles and converted all my wikitables to galleries. They said it was because the wikitables took up too much space and it's easy for readers to click on the pictures if they want a closer look. Also, wikipedia can be viewed in a number of different formats and sometimes the wikitables cause huge gaps in the layouts or blank out the photos in a table. I've was able to confirm this myself when I've logged on at a few different places like the library, work etc... So, I guess the main reason I changed your photos from wikitable to gallery in the Camperdown article is so we have a standard across the article and also because there would be no problems in viewing the pictures in any other format. Cheers J Bar (talk) 22:50, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the info J Bar, obviously in the case of Camperdown I should have stayed within the style of the page, just interested in the use of Wiki Tables in general and note Wikipedia's space concerns. Also having a good monitor I tend to forget that many people are viewing on smaller or older displays, especially many overseas. Cheers. Michael--MichaelGG (talk) 03:07, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
