About me
I drew the short straw. My life is crap but I deal with it and go on.
The Machines
Ah yes the machines. Yes computers and I go hand and hand as you can tell. I've been hooked onto anything electronic (and mechanical for that matter) from as far back as I can remember. My mom hated me being on that stuff but whatever :P
I enjoy programming, networking, light graphics and web work and some gaming during my downtime. I don't play the latest hardcore games. Mostly because I would get addicted and have nothing to show for it. I do have 31 computers. A majority belong the arcane x86 architecture. I own two Motorola 68000 based machines. The duo run 68040s (Fully 32-bit). Sadly they are Macintosh's however I have accumulated deep documentation on them so porting CodyOS over should be no problem.
Which brings me to CodyOS. I was using Windows NT 4.0 Workstation and Windows 2000 Professional (NT 5.0). Although most people bash Windows at being unstable, I was quite impressed by the architecture and design of the kernel itself. So I began to explore the world of operating systems. I learned about Linux, BSD, DOS, OS/2, Windows 9x, Mac OS 7 to 10 (X), Windows NT 3.x/4/5.x and Vista. I began to construct the CodyOS kernel very carefully. A microkernel seemed best. Portability and scalability was a must. Multithreading and multiprocessing was defiantly needed as well. Basically a modern operating system. Written in C the kernel is optimized for speed and size. Each kernel system call is independent allowing some interesting booting techniques as well with robustness. The hardware abstraction layer is written in the corresponding assembly language. My goal is to get CodyOS running on i486, 68k, Alpha AXP, MIPS, PowerPC and SPARC systems. Including the 64-bit extensions of the x86, MIPS, PowerPC and SPARC. The kernel services will be written in C++ (but I'm open for suggestions) allowing portability. I have alot of ideas for this (as most people with ADHD tend to be creative) so I'm designing the lower levels to cope with the unbelievable expanding technology industry.
School
I highly dislike school. I hate it. I find it extremely difficult to pay attention in class. I feel so withdrawn a lot. Its not that I don't understand the concepts being presented its just that my mind wanders. You could say I have a battle inside me. To make the matter more unique is that I have been labeled gifted by surprising amount of people. No formal testing has ever been applied to me before. The academic institution doesn't like wasting time on individuals such as myself. Apparently the definition of giftedness is along the lines of "Jump through our hoops well enough and you receive a label at the end. Stop and your normal." I was 'informally' expelled last year (2007) however I was granted to return in the fall which I have been.
