I don't think Kausfiles was the first political blog. The Daily Howler started the previous year, in 1998. (There may be still earlier examples; I don't know.)

The word "hack" turns up pretty frequently in discussions of Kaus's writing. It seems to be the consensus opinion.
pardon me but it's pretty ridiculous to say that the "consensus opinion," whatever that means, is that Kaus is a hack. I guess the many people who regard him highly aren't part of this consensus? And what's the deal with adding cheap shots like Atrios's "face made for radio, voice made for blogging?" You know, I bet you could find out about someone calling him a poopypants in the third grade, and add that in there. Byset 02:42, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
How does "roger ailes" get a link to his blog under "further reference" as a "noted kausfiles critic"? I used to read a blog that criticized Maureen Dowd almost every day, but it would be stupid to add it to Dowd's Wikipedia page as "further reference." How is this guy a "noted critic" of Mickey Kaus, did somebody link to his blog once? Byset 22:37, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
"Most liberals" (and for that matter, most conservatives) have never heard of Kaus. It's too povy to call him a "hack" and using the "some have termed him..." formula is too weasel wordy. Makgraf 20:56, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Can you edit the history page? There is a reference to a hate and hoax site that crashes browsers there
If you visit that site your browser will be hijacked and a loud "hey guys I am watching gay porn" will come through your speakers. Your browser will jump around -- the only way to stop it is to kill the process. There is also some reference to the hate speech site, GNAA.
