[edit] Why she won in 2005 THE TRUTH

The constituency of Fermanagh and South Tyrone is mainly Nationalist and Republican. No matter how much the UUP and DUP try the will NEVER gain a westminister seat from this onstituency. Michelle has been elected MP for the constituency for two consecutive terms. Margaret Thatcher had onced planned to shift the Irish Borer surrounding the six counties so that Fermanagh and Tyrone would enter the Irish Republic thus it is obivous these areas are mainly nationalist and if a referendum was ever held in these two counties the majority would vote in favour of entering the Irish Republic. Arlene Foster will NEVER secure Michelles seat and Unionism is as good as gone in this constituency!

[edit] Why she won in 2005

I dispute that it's inevitable that had the UUP and DUP agreed a single candidate then they would have defeated her. Leaving aside the possibility of a smaller Unionist group or independent standing anyway, the recent election results in the seat have shown an absolute majority for Irish nationalist candidates. A lot of people who otherwise voted for the SDLP, or even not at all, could well have given Gildernew key additional votes, whilst it's dubious that every single person who voted for one of the Unionist candidates would have automatically backed the other - Foster's defection was publicly clearly still a raw wound for the UUP at the time whilst hatred of the UUP and Trimble could spur many voters to decide not to shore up Trimble's position.
