[edit] Michael Redd Nickname Citations

The fact of the matter is this: The Michael Redd nicknames do not need citations in the infobox. I am surprised that nicknames need to be cited at all, as they are informal. However, here are my reasons, and hopefully we can stop the edit war over this.

1.) It makes the info box look cluttered.

2.) Nothing else in the info box of any comparable player is cited.

3.) The citations are already there in the Trivia section. In fact, everything is cited in the Trivia section. Why cite the same info twice in two different locations?

4.) The info box should act as an overview for the article. If people wanted to read through citations, they could. It is all right there in the article. The info box is the brief of the player, and it is a quick reference for those wondering what college Michael Redd attended, what his draft position was, or how tall he is. All of these are facts, and some of them (especially those pertaining to his college and professional careers) are all open for further study inside the article, not in the info box. Guys we need to reach WP:CONSENSUS here. This edit war should stop. As I said in my talk page, there nothing wrong to cite these infos in the infobox if article is large and with a high number of sources. That make easy to find in which source are there the information. However as this article is small with few sources, I do not know if is really necessary to cite them in the infobox. It was good also to lock the article, because the other user was only reverting edits without reading the discussion page. The discussion page, as well as my talk page (which became considerably more cluttered) were my platforms for explanation, and I would hope that the user would check here, as I have frequently told him to do, before he makes any more edits. Now I wonder, if the article were unlocked, would he pick up again in the edit war without consulting the discussion page (again)? I believe that, for the reasons stated above, it does not make any practical sense for the citations in the Infobox, and I will stand by these until any other user argues me rationally on them. Thank you for the lock, and I am perfectly content with the page remaining locked until someone challenges me on my points or needs to add or correct information in the article. The problem here is that Downwards is involved. He's as horrible a person as he is an editor, a monumentally disgusting thing. It causes everyone untold anguish that he by some random chance is interested in basketball. I don't know what hurt it all those years ago but now he can't be reasoned with. I pray one day it can be locked away where it can never get out and hurt another actual person . I'm moved to tears writing this, why can't it just disappear nobody would miss it! NOBODY WOULD MISS IT! KatoABJV (talk) 02:02, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
